got a question for you L owners
svtmike,
why are u laughing at my misfortunes??? first of all i got a lightning at 15 and didnt have to pay a dime(i would not call that misfortunate) and second of all the money that we bought the lightning with wasnt even our money (technically it was but ull find out what i mean) - after my dad died there was a trust fund setup for me and my sister and we bought it with some of that money - lets just say that $47k is less than 5% of the money that is in there - actually lest than 2.5% cuz the money was split up between me and my sis.
steven
im not bragging and my mom is not stupid ( i didnt say parents cuz my dad died in a car accident - he was in a navigator)
u may think my mom is stupid for payin all that money but as u may have figured out were not really suffering for paying and extra 17k if u know what i mean
whitetoast,
that sucks about the financial aid thing, glad i wolnt have to go trough that since college is already paid for me.
redneck,
i thank my mom every night for my Lightning
BigD,
not so sure why u offerd me the M3 but were buyin a new 540i soon so im goin to have to deny ur offer.
i dont mean to sound like a spoiled little bitch but i hate people putting me down for bein so young. if it werent for all the bad things that happend in my life like my dad and my best friend dying in the same year i probly wouldnt have a lightning right now. so in a way i am lucky for having a lightning but in a way everyone of you are luckier than me because im almost sure that none of u went through ***** like this at such a young age.

J15BIG,
i am deeply sorry for your recent losses. but we all endure hardships. these people are just saying that you should be thankful for the financial stability that you have. despite how you got it. but...i am sorry to say you did get terrible ripped of. but you know that, you said it yourself. i would be a little more frugal if i was you. the money will run out eventually. especially when you blow 17k just because a lack of research. but hey, its your money. do what you want. sorry again about your recent losses.

LBC, thank you for your condolences. i am thankful for my familys financial stability. every day i thank god that my dad planned for even the worst situations. i didnt totally blow 17k. some of it went to good use. i got the extended warranty, that paint stuff, and lowjack. that is still only worth about $4-5k tops though. i know half that money goes to the dealer but maybe the part the goes to ford will help them give our trucks more power in the future(yea right
)
)
While $47K made my jaw drop, and certainly I and most people on this board would never pay that much, it's not the 16 year old kid or even his mother who are the bad guys here. That dealer is gonna do some serious burn time for that one... damn vultures.
J15Big - Sorry to hear about your losses. Take care of your inheritence or it'll be gone before you know it.

I just bough a sweet L just 2 months ago (paid 28k for it)...i go to UF and am in the Navy. You don't have to have well-off, rich parents to afford a 30k truck...just make the girlfriend understand that ya have to cut out a few of those dinners out a month
BTW....i am 18

Well i got my truck when i was 16, am now 18, and i do have to agree all of us teens that get nice cars are lucky as hell. Of course were i live i've seen 16 years driving to school everyday in Ferraris, Benz(amg), BMW (M3's). I will also have to say that maybe some of this teens that get these types of cars earned it and i dont mean it moneywise but through shcool, and just being good kids so aslong as they are not being ****** and showing off to everysingle person they talk to then am cool with it. By the way i had no idea i was going to get this truck it was a suprise for me. Well lata everyone.
It sounds to me like they just told the dealer what they wanted and didn't care to ask what it cost!
My first car was a 67 Impala with a 283 and a 2 speed automatic trans. I worked my butt off for it too. Cost $200.00

I think my BS detector is emitting a smell... but Since I live in seattle, and not the bay-area, I'll give the benefit of the doubt.
I paid a little over 30k last month for my 99 lightning, WITH a 7yr/72000mi extended warranty, and only 15,000 miles on it... Could have bought a brand new one for about 6k more. I saw a "2002" on www.autotrader.com, in the san-fran area for right around 35k. Screw a $7000 perma-plate, buy some Zaino!
I guess I can't see wasting several thousand dollars for no reason, with no obvious research done to avoid it. I'm sure I could have bought a $30,000 honda civic, but now that would be ridiculous, now wouldn't it!
My $.02

I just gotta say here, i've worked extremely hard for every bit of money i make now, but now its to the point where the only real reason i bought my L is that there was really good financing,, and i am sick of the economy not doing so well right now, i feel there is no reason for it, so i went and spent some money,, now i had planned on getting an L, but right now i still have my ranger, and i'll have it for a year left on my lease too. I pay for everything and i let my brother drive my ranger cause he is older then me, engaged, and dirt *** poor. But every time i get in my L,, nothing can match the grin on my face. I hope everybody on this board feels the same way.
young and spoiled
he's spoiled, like all the kids around here where i just moved. All diving around in their mustangs and think they are bad asses till i toast them. Too bad most of em don't now squat or they'd realize how bad their parents are because they got the 6 cyl and not the 8!!!!!

whitetoast11 :
I know what you mean about the financial aid.
Im not bragging here but my parents as well are very well off.My dad owns the 3 rd largest contractor supply house in the nation.
The only way i got the financial aid was my parents had to completely cut me off.
They dont show my as a dependant, i have my own medical insurance and all the rest.
They dont want to pay for any of my college. He says it is to teach me responsibility.
Noone likes these spoiled kids on here.
Even if you didnt pay for it just lie and say you did.
I mean i feel bad and all for you about your dad.
I havnt had any loss in my imediate family but my grandpa and dad set up a trust fund for my and my brother and sister that we cant touch till we are 25.Each one is worth close to 6 million but again i hate to say this cause it sounds like im bragging.
i am in no way spoiled either.it may seem like a lot but i work alot too.
i go to school 5 days a week and work 6 days a week with my dad 30-40 hours a week in during the school year and 50-60 hours a week during the summer. i do this becasue of all he does for my to show how greatful i am and so he wont have to work.
and also about your losses.
im sure all of us here have experienced losses not just you.
My best friend was riding with me and his parents were in front of us one night and we saw them get hit by a drunk driver and they were both killed.i had to go through that at the age of 16.
2 weeks later one of my friends brother was in his probe and an explorer pulled out in front of him and he flipped and it crushed him in his car and i was with my friend when he got the call about it.
then that next year i was at a party with my friends and 4 of them left in a truck and my 15 year old friend was in the back who i had just talked to 2 mintues before and they were run off a bridge by another car and the truck landed on him.he was in the hospital for 2 weeks before he died.
Then the next year when i was 18 and a senior in school i was following my friend to school and a Van ran head on into him after trying to miss hitting a dog and my friend in the passeger seat had his head go through the window and the glass cut his neck and he died on the scene.
And to finish this i have been at The MED in memphis since friday night because my 3 best friends were out riding around and they got broadsided by a semi and one who was 20 that i played high school baseball with for 3 years went through the windshield and one 17 went through the passenger window and the youngest one 15 got trapped in the car and is in the worst shape.they were all given a 10% chance to live if they make it through tonight.
so please dont talk to me about having to go trough so much at a young age.many of us have to do it.
Everything happens for a reason and it is up to us to learn what that reason is.
These 3 kids are about to die to teach 50 something kids that drinking is not worth it.
all the times that this has happened at my school it has been the most popular kids.the ones that everyone looks up to.the ones that people think nothing could ever happen to.
it to teach them that their life could end any mintue and it makes them all aware of this for a few months then they tend to forget and it happens all over again.
I am just about to leave to spend the next few days at the hospital.
sorry guys i hate to have to feel up a whole page in the lightning forums with my story but i would like this kid to know that he is not the only one here with problems.
again i am sorry for saying what i said to you but maybe next time you should clarify everything before making a post and leaving it open to argument.
