What Do You Think About Your Ford Techs???
I read the entire post from jeffslightnings horrible experience with and independent shop for driving his truck twice. First off cry on someone elses shoulder...If he dident testdrive that truck and it pulled or the wheel was ****ed you would be all over him and the shops owner. Yes fordtech was right most not all svt customers are complete jerkoffs when they are in the dealer.
2fast4u if you dident want to wait 4 hours then you should have went home....judging from your ignorent comments in here twords ford tech im glad you waited 4 hours. I would have made you wait all F*ucki* day !!! Next time go get JDM to fix your wiper cover. jeffslightning yes most of us "ford techs " stick together becasue we all go to work everyday and deal with as$holes like yourself. God forbid the guy drives your truck. I hope he kicked the S*&t out of it.!!!!! I would like to see you guys call us dumbasses when your warrenty is void and your trying to replace your head in your driveway.. whos the dumbass then i dont care what the hell you did to a chevy extreme buddy totally different ballpark....How much is that tow bill going to be to JDM when your trucks fried ???? 4 hour ride ???? nice tow bill. do you think your dealer might pick that bill up if you ???? just curious ??? oh thats right they are all dumbasses ??? right bad converter ?? cant break 12.90 ???? fords fault right ... i know ... Im really curious to know how all you other people think about there dealer and the techs working on them ??? please give some feedback !!!!!!!!

Hey you guys, Rule #1 , don't **** off the or your Ford tech.. Don't bite your nose off to spite your face...
I am one of the lucky ones, dealer, local Tech., and service dept. treat me very nice...
They treat myself and my vehicle with respect...

oh man, here we go again.
Personally, I think that all Ford Technicians are dumbasses. j/k
If any of us had half a clue, we'd all be working at independent shops, that way if we didn't know what's wrong with a vehicle, we could just send it to "the dealer".
Seriously though, lightning00n93cobra, I'm on your side, but this one started off bad, and I don't see much chance of a constructive turnaround. I used up all of my negative energy over on the "alignment" thread. Maybe we should move on?
just my .02

I really don't want to be banned here! I read the moderators post at the end of that horrible thread. I do have concerns when I drop my high performance car/truck off at my local SVT dealer.
After I read the comments of Fork TEK to my reply to the post, I was pissed, but decided that I didn't need to respond, he'd make my point for me...and he did.
After I dropped off my 98 Cobra vert for service, and it came back with 75 more miles than I dropped it off with, I bought the autowatch.
Flash forward 9 months.... Waiting to pick up my new 2001 F-350 work truck (they're detailing it), with time to kill, I'm wandering the lot. I hear a hellacious burnout happening in the back of the lot. I see a 98 Cobra coupe doing doughnuts in the back lot, when it gets closer to me I see a identification tag thing hanging from the rearview mirror (customer car). Then the douc*bag pulls it into a service bay. (ME SHAKING MY HEAD)
I ALWAYS make sure to tip my mechanic! (Before and after the job is done) A few bucks when I meet him to say here's my baby, then big bucks when he give it back to me in one piece.
Even though I tipped the mechanics PRIOR to the warranty (No start condition) work being done on my 98 Cobra, IT STILL CAME BACK WITH 75 ADDITIONAL MILES. I just hope it wasn't on the back lot in the form of doughnuts!

My tech is the best
I have gone to great lengths to get on the best of terms with my tech. He will help me in any way he can as far as installing mods and will do everything in his power to help me keep my warranty.
But it may not only be up to him because the ford reps do come in from time to time and he has no control over that, but he knows what I have done and has helped me at times make it better. He has even given up personal time to work on my truck for me.
I agree you need to do little things, him and his wife just had baby and I even brought a gift, but more because we have become friends over time, other than for any other reason.
I also am one of the types of people that doesn't leave the side of my Lightning during service and nobody gives me a hard time about it any more, I just stay out of the way and will help in any way I can.

Im not really trying to start that thred again just curious to know how you people in here really feel about your dealers. I was venting a little bit due to some ignorent comments made my some people with obviously no respect. Im just really curious how people in here feel about there dealer and techs . I just try to make my customers happy and fix there cars, Curious to see about the other people out there. .......
off topic:
Sparky: just out of curiosity - when you have a ford tech install mods for you, like a chip, can the dealer still void your warranty if you have problems that they assume is the chips fault? What about if you buy a used L from them w/ a chip and other mods already installed?
I just ask b/c you say your tech helps w/ mods

Personally I could give a rats a$$ about what you and Fordtek think about my comments!!! As I sit here and read your comments as well as Fordtek's, I can see why most people by import.
Oh, and you have to put up with my ***** because I am a Ford customer, and Fordtek works for Ford which would constitute me being a provider for income!!!!
Oh, and I will go to JDM for all my repairs because he and a few others tuners for these trucks have seen more than training videos, their expertise would also mean they have good EXPERIENCE!!!
I don't know if we are getting it yet.
I wouldn't be up in arms about this but one particular person had to call all SVT owner dumda$$es with no life!!! That is what struck a cord.
A few others and myself consider SVT vehicles and events a way of life and I do not need some retarded a$$ comments so that this person can vent.
I also think that you sir just started this thread to start crap with me and the people who broke bad on that guy. Don't make excuses........You wanted to see a war!!!
Oh, and what you and Fordtek keep bringing up about the 12.90 thing. I am done with racing for the fact that I do not have the pockets for racing, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
Oh, and if you don't believe about the converter, give Jim(JDM) a call and you can talk to the man that diagnosed it and even drove it down the strip to confirm it.

lightning00n93cobra:
I respect the good techs. I've read www.flatratetech.com and I know that Ford is screwing you guys for time.
I hate the fact that I can't feel comfortable dropping my car off because of what I described earlier in this post. But the comments of fordtek....
"I hope that one day someone gives me a car with the AUTOWATCH box on it. I'll have that thing on my lift in the air doing 150mph quick as I can. Have it revved to the limit, and laugh in your face when you come in crying. "
How is this a professional Ford mechanic? Would you feel comfortable putting your keys in his hand?

These guys just think that all SVT owners are stupid and clueless, well, I got news for you boys!!!! I helped my father for half of my life with his drag car and even worked in a shop in my early days and I am no dumba$$. I hate when people act like this towards people who buy there products.
I figure I might as well get my other .02 in before steve closes this thread as a branch of the earlier one.

lightning00n93cobra you are a complete moron that has NO clue of what is going on. I guess the fact that the owner of that shop called me and said they were wrong and wanted to know what to do to make it right. It's guys like you that give mechanics a bad rap. The good ones out there will persevere. The bad ones hopefully will just go away. I have absolutley no problem with anyone that does their job right. I'll be the first to point something out when I think somebody is doing something just not right with my 30K+ property.
lightning00n93cobra your not really trying to start the thread again huh? My A** your little ego needs inflating so here you go.This thread will get locked just like the other because of guys like you.

Auto mechanics are like any other tradesmen.5% are really good,15% are competent. The other other 80% shouldnt even be getting paid.I'm a refrigeration mechanic. It took many years of experience and study and being in the 80% and 15% to get in the 5%.If you ask enough people who have searched, you will find someone that you can trust.
I'm lucky that I found a really good mechanic. An occasional steak dinner is a good investment.

You know, I read the entire post from Jeffslightning, and all the ugly comments that followed.
I bought my F150 a little over a month ago after reading numerous posts on this site and F150world.com about what great trucks they are and how much pride people take in owning them (such as yourself). After reading the comments about the L incident, and the flame wars that followed, it really embarasses me to be a member of this community. Have you guys actually read the stuff that you said? I don't want to contribute to the flame war that went on, but you really should take a minute or two and think about what was said.
Yes, L's are nice trucks, and I take just as much pride in
my "lowly" 2000 F150 as the owner of a 30k truck. After having my house burn to the ground and having my best friend murdered, I can only say that a truck (no matter how cool or how many mods you have, etc), is just a THING. Grow up, there really are more important things......
Sign me, embarassed.
