Smile WOW, Expedition to get L engine and be called THUNDER!

The redesigned 03 Expedition is to receive the new 3 valve per cylinder L engine with supercharger making over 400 horsepower. It is to be called the THUNDER. The L engine is starting to make it's way into various Ford products and soon to be Lincoln products. I know some of you do not like this; but I think it is good. Cheaper parts and more technology for wider applications. Alan

Are you sure? I heard the whole Thunder project was cancelled. Even if you go on the SVT site it says that there are no plans for production.

I had the privilege of riding in the prototype Thunder on IRP's road course last weekend with a driving instructor behind the wheel. what fun

It did suprisingly well and is one good weapon in the war against idiot liberal soccer moms.

SVT says they're not making them.

I was first on the waiting list if they produced them and even after being disapointed, asked for "dibs" on the prototype....

I also heard there were no plans for production, however this months Sport Truck mag has a picture of a 2001 Thunder mule, which is different from the 99 version that has been running around.

Go to Blue Oval News. They say they are going to make them. And they will be at the 2002 auto show. They were waiting for the redesigned 03 Expedition to appear.

First the HARLEY now the EXPEDITION. I love it.

I know some of you L owners dont really like this idea. Dont worry you guys still have the fastest truck. You know that Ford will
beef up the Lightning come 2003. At least Ford is keeing it in the same family. Ford is just sharing the wealth.
Obiviously there is a demand for the THUNDER.

I cannot wait to see the look on a YUKON owner when the THUNDER blow's them away:o

SVT says you have seen the LIGHTNING WAIT TO YOU HEAR THE THUNDER.

I guess a 4 valve Cobra engined Ranger stepside called Tornado(or Hurricane) is next? I love the s/c 5.4 going in other vehicles, I bet there has been ALOT of demand since the L's came out in 99,,,,98

plenty of lightnin, no thuder

Just read last week straight from SVT that they are not going to make the thunder. Marketing managers from SVT say that the first response from consumers is "why is it(the engine )so loud. Average SUV consumer didn't want the vehicle, (especially for the price which i'm guessing over 40k). SVT said they are gonna put their full attention back to the Cobra's and Lightnings. This was in an interview with colleti and scapello in hot rod magazine.

Guys...don't go believing everything that you read....ESPECIALLY on BON...they are wrong quite a lot of the time....so I would recommend not posting their nonsense as the Gospel truth.
