Is it just me or does the term RICE BURNER come to mind? Buy American or German.

I think this post originally reffered to the term "beater" as in kaka winter vehicle. I wasn't aware WW2 patriotism applied here

I was going to go German (Audi TT Roadster), but then I changed my mind and decided to go cheap. For the price of the insurace and lease payments on the TT, I would have a 300hp Mitsubishi.

There are not any real "old" German cars that I feel are worth the money as a beater/daily driver vehicle...theres a couple of collectibles, but I'm not real fond of any 80's or early 90's VW's and BMW's.

As far as american...well, what american AWD sedans are there?

How can you even say "even". We did not committ war crimes against humanity by dropping the bombs. We asked for an unconditional surrender and they said "No". We could have sent in our overworked and tired Marines and lost many more AMERICAN lives (remember, thats what matters American Lives).
Someone missed "History Class".

No offense RF, but the only reason our bombs weren't a "crime against humanity" is because we won.

I have a total respect for the work our armed forces have done to preserve our country and its liberties... I'm thankful that they have kept the US around for me to be in.

I'm still getting the car as my winter beater though.

redneck ferrari: can i ask a question: keep in mind i am a vet, 4 years Army Field Artillery, then out for one, then recalled for desert storm.
when they gave the classes on war crimes were you taking strict notes to ensure you never committed what could be percieved as a crime against humanity? or were you like the rest of us who said f^%$k war crimes, all is fair in love and war!
seems if we had attacked their harbor that way then it would be called a great strategic move.
