Yet another Jackson,SC recap! (long)
First of all, that was one of the best weekends I've had in quite some time! I finally was able to run my truck down the 1/4 mile, but more on that later.
The day started when I left the house at 7am and filled up with 21 gallons of Texaco 93 octance at $1.08/gal - not bad. Next up was the 2 1/2 hour drive to Augusta, GA to meet up with some fellow Lightning owners at MGW, LTD. I flew by the place the first time, but after a quick turnaround I met up with CornerCarver and we waited for George (MGW VP). A few minutes later, George rolled up in his brand new '02 yellow Z06. For a Chevy, that is one fine car!
George showed me a few of their Lightning appearance goodies and before I knew what hit me I bought everything they make for the Lightning! And, I will buy everything else they make for the Lightning in the future, his prdoucts are really that good. Definatley check out their website and I'll post pictures in my gallery this week.
After the brief stint at MGW (over an hour of waiting for Jeff and David
), we were off the store to pick up drinks. Here is one of the many advantages of the Lightning, what other race vehicle can bring drinks for 70 people to the track with ease?!?
Finally at the track, I had an absolute blast. This was my first time running the Lightning (and also my first time at a 1/4 mile track). My first run of the day turned out to be my best:
60' 2.088
1/8th 8.850@80.32
1/4 13.760@99.81
I ran a total of 10 times, but the temperature continued to rise (80°, was this really November?) throughout the day so I never bettered this time. I also ran in the bracket races, but I redlighted in the semi-finals. Oh well, I'm learning and I sure had fun.
There was also a very good Lightning showing. Paul, David, JC, and Jeff it was nice meeting all of you! I look forward to racing with you guys again. I think you guys scared the Cobra guys though!
I'll have pictures of all of your trucks in my gallery this week.
Paul,
Pictures of your 12.92 run are in my gallery. I have this and your 12.85 run on video also. I'll see if my friend can convert it to .mpg format.
David,
Darnit if I didn't find a penny under my driver's seat when I got home. I guess I could've run 12's afterall! LOL
Thanks again to everyone (especially SCMC and MGW) I had a great time!

Great post...........
I have heard(LOL) what a good time everybody had--especially CornerCarver--seems he went quicker than somebody else(sigh).
Try and come down to Reynolds, Ga. Fri nite for the last 1/4 mile race of the year. Expecting 5 or 6 Ls again. Call me at 1-800-926-2136, if you have any interest.

Brett,
Nice meeting you! I swear, everytime I turned around I saw you staging! Good runs in a stock truck in the warm November air. Kick-butt pictures btw.
Geprge's stuff rocks doesn't it?

Awww Man
Wish I could have made it. (Dad came up from S. GA. to fix a hydrolic motor) Sounds like fun was had by all. Too bad about the heat. Hopefully Renoylds (sp) will be cooler this weekend. I'm going to try and make it this time. I want to get some 1/4 times before the year's end and hopefully some dyno numbers. Hopefully after Christmas I can afford some ? chip and ? filter.
It'd be a good chance to get some base numbers. I haven't checked the other threads yet, but where is 'Silver Dollar Raceway'?
On a side not. I see other L around here but not too many about 3 or 4, none down my road though. But Sat after dad had left, I was heading out in the freshly washed L and guess what I see. A matching Silver Lightning with (in the split sec i passed him in a curve) a cervine's (sp) hood (like tampa's ?). Oh well, guess I got to speed up my plans.

I was really great meeting all of you (Paul, Brett, David, JBsvt). You were all very friendly and helpfull. It was my first time at the track with the Lightning and it showed. I couldn't 60' this thing to save my life. A sub 2.00 60' would have given me a nice 12 second pass, but in most of my runs I was having to ease off the gas to keep it from spinning. I till had a great time hanging out with everybody and watching the L's kick some butt. I will have to settle for a couple of 13.008's, but I know this thing is faster than that... We will see !!!
Nice pic in your sig Brett... It was an absolute blast looking at the faces of people seeing these 4500+ lb trucks pull aways from sport cars. Some of them came away with a new found respect for Lightnings.

Mocklab:
Come on down--it's not that far(easy for me to say, I'm only 30 miles away) to Reynolds. I checked my atlas and Loganville(NE of atl.) should be about a 1 hr 45 min. drive. Get on I 75 South, take I 475(by-pass) around Macon, back on I 75 South, get off at marker 149(Byron, Ga exit), go right- onto Hw'y 49 South(4 lane). Look for a golf course(on the right) about 9 or 10 miles from I 75--just past the course, turn right on JCT(junction) 49, follow to Hw'y 96-West--Reynolds is 9 miles more on 96. Go thru Reynolds, Silver Dollar is 1 mile west of the town--lighted sign at left turn-off--see track lites from 96.
$20 to run as many times as you can line up--go past ticket shack and turn left for tech and scales. After teching, turn around and head up to the announcing tower--park in first two 'rows' if you can. We'll all be around there.

I didn't realize that it was your first time at the track with the Lightning. You'll have that 12 second run in no time. It certainly was awesome watching everyone's reaction to seeing our trucks taking out sports cars!
