For those who have had the door crack fix...
For those who have had the door crack fix...
I had the crack fixed on the drivers door. The dealer contracted a body shop to do the work but the door doesn't look the same. Do all of the "crack stop" fixes change the door frame? The trim doesn't even fit back on properly.
I had the door fix done on my 99.
My dealer has a body shop and did the work themself. They did a awesome Job, and I couldn't tell anything was ever done it looked that good.
I would bring the truck back and tell them to make sure the job is done right, and you will not accept the truck till it is perfect. I think since they fixed it once they should give you a whole new door.

I had my truck fixed at Dealership where I purchased it. After having to show them a very lengthy print out of complaints and TSB at that time. They put some sort of support inside the door, still have not found it.
But I decided to redo the doors since the door they fixed looked very bad
. I decided to shave the doors, fenders and tailgate. After redoing the doors still not found any sort of support, they look Great......
.
But, I believe the crack will return, wish Ford would finally get a fix for this and stop PXXXy footing around and get it done ......design a new door for crying out loud....... sorry ...... got a little bit emotional.........it is my baby ( my truck that is)

I agree with Don...make sure they do it right.
Warning, After a few months, the crack reappeared on my truck and started to rust. So I took it back.
It took the dealer 3 weeks to fix it right! The trim was scuffed from them cleaning the overspray from the window...that ticked me off. Not to mention the truck was dirty when they said it was washed and waxed.

My dealer told me 5 days in the body shop to fix my door crack. I said uh, nah, not right now thanks...
I touched it up a little so no metal was showing, and if it gets bigger, then I'll go get it fixed.
I think it comes from rolling the windows up when moving 50mph plus...they seem to have a hard time doing that...

I just got my truck back from the dealership today!
It took six days to fix the crack on my drivers side door and put a preventative patch in the passenger side door, but man was it worth it! The door looks great no more crack and the paint looks good, they even got rid of the gigantic scratch on my door that I got at the car wash. They gave it back washed and waxed, and it cost me $150 dollars plus they gave me a 2002 Explorer to drive around while they were fixing it. I'm just fearful that the crack might reappear, some people were saying that can happen...if it does I will go back and demand a new door!
I'm so happy...
, no more booboo's on my baby(my truck)
