Fixed my leaning truck issue, Somewhat!

Well I got home last night and I did a oil change and a cleaned the K&N oil filter and i decided to try and fix my truck so it wouldn't lean AS MUCH as before.

Before I started my truck had a half a tank, (I figured that would be a good weight of gas so I'm right in the middle of the battle) and sitting as follows.

From the center of the fender's the front side was about 30.25 on the drivers side and 30.75 on the passenger side. The rear was about 30.5 on the drivers side and 31 on the passenger side. Really not *** bad as I thought it was but I could tell just by standing in front and in back of my truck.

So here's what I did. My truck already has a bell tech 3/4 drop kit on it with hangers, shackles on the THIRD holes and front springs also. I know most of you with the shackles are thinking how in the hell did you get your truck in those third holes, well a hack saw and a welder can fix about anything these days. I measured my stock shackles from center to center and I also measure the bell techs from center to center where they where on the truck. I couldn't believe it when I saw that it was exactly an half an inch difference. Just what the truck was leaning to! So I pulled out the belltech on the drivers side and replaced it with my stock shackle. After measuring the height I couldn't believe it when they where both exactly 30.75 inches on both sides. The shift must have pushed the passenger side down a bit and it leveled out perfect. So I was happy!

Now the pain in the ****. The front side was going to be more difficult because I didn't want to go get the front end realigned again so I tried this out. I pulled the drivers side shock off and put four washers inbetween the shock mount bolts on the bottom and the lower control arm figuring that would help out allot more. Well after all the pain and effort I lowered the truck and measured it again. the back was the same and the front was only 1/4 on an inch difference. So it did help a bit but its not level yet. Needless to say I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. The ride is the same and I can even tell when I driving that the truck feels more level now.

now I just need to figure out a way to lower the passenger side a bit more. I think if I was to put a couple washer on the top bolt of the shock's to bring the shock down more it would lower it a bit more. Thats my next step tonight.

Well I hope this gives you guys some Ideas to try and fix this leaning truck syndrom. I couldn't stand!

Later

Thats cool

I can see how changing the rear shackle would level the rear, but how can putting a few washers under the shocks can help?

The shocks have nothing to do with ride height, all they do is control rebound, and compresion rates of the suspension.
If you want to level the front you are going to have to remove the front springs and either put a spacer, or cut one of the springs just a little bit.

I am happy you got the truck riding more level

Hmmmm, wasn't there a battery on the front passenger side... isn't it now over the back axle? That's probably it.

RT,
Unless your front shocks are bottomed out they should have no affect on the ride height. Might get it up on stands and check the spring locating holes on your control arms. There should be two holes. The leading end of the spring should completely cover the first hole and be visable but not cover the second hole.

I don't know how to explain how the shocks helped it out but there not bottomed out. these are bell tech shocks made for this drop kit. And I think the reason they helped out is because the shock is a little more compressed on the drivers side now. It did raise it up a bit, so I don't know how to explain it but it worked a little.

The batteries in the back made a huge difference in the height but they also make a huge difference in the launching of my beast.

BUMPER DRAGING RACING. Asked sprio, he saw it.

And I remeber when everybody said that by lowering the L's you would loose allot of your 60 foot's. 1.71 isn't bad for a 5150 pound truck
