Thumbs up

Ever since I got the truck when I put it in drive on an incline (rear lower than front) the truck slips back....it makes a knocking noise and is jerky while doing it. So I just started using my parking brake all the time, but what is wrong.....is it just a parking paw adjustment.

One more thing, if I try to manually shift the truck into first gear on the column, it will only get half way between 2nd and 1st. And when I take off the truck is in second gear. So why won't it go into 1st

Thanks....Joe

Joe, that is probably what it is. Factory Tech probably can confirm this.

Mine also slips back if I park on a incline, I allways use my parking brake, and I recomend everybody do so, even on level ground.

As far as not manually shifting into 1st it sounds like the linkage needs to be adjusted, mine shifts fine manually, though I rarelly do it.

Page Factory tech he is our transmision expert

If you're not fully engaging Park AND you are having manual gear selection problems, it sounds to me like your shifter cable is not adjusted correctly on your transmission. I'd take it back to the dealer and have them reset the cable on the trans, and then after that is done, have them use the NGS or WDS to check and make sure the MLPS is adjusted correctly and your PCM gear selection matches where the shifter is.

LOL, sorry, that's just my Ford Tech lingo kicking in . The NGS and WDS are two of Fords scan tools. What I meant was to have them hook the scan tool up, to look and see which gear the PCM is showing the truck is in, in relationship to where you actually have the shifter. MLPS stands for Manual Level Position Sensor. That's the sensor on the side of the tranny that tells the PCM what gear you are in based on where the shifter is. The shifter cable adjustment and the MLPS adjustment, must match.
