Talking First Mod (PSP Filter Kit) going in tomorrow.

Received my PSP Filter Kit today. THANKS, SAL. Appears to be very high quality. Will slip it in tomorrow and see how it does.

Also have an appointment with the muffler shop next friday to remove the stock muffler and replace it with 2 three chamber Flowmasters.

Congratts on the PSP intake, Sal makes great stuff.

If you haven't bought the Flowmasters yet, you may want to rethink them. I have read of a few L owners who put them on and lost power.

I would leave the exhaust stock. But, if you really want it to sound better, get a Dynamax Ultraflow.

First of all, Welcome, I haven't seen your posts before, but I'm always happy to see another Virginia person (especially central VA) on the board!

I can't comment on the Flowmasters except that I love them on my stang, but most everyone here uses Dynomax, Borla, or Bassani.

I bought the Bassani cat back for my truck and love the sound, and the polished stainless tips look great too.

I'd say try the Flowmasters and tell us what you think, maybe you'll like them alot, or maybe you'll decide you don't like them on the truck and reinforce the popular opinion around here.
anyway, good luck.

later,
chris haynie

A couple of locals have the Spintech muffler on their trucks. It is the best sounding one that I have heard yet.

correct me if i'm wrong

I thought i read somewhere on this board that there was a dyno test on the 2001's with different exhaust systems. The stock system performed the best and the flowmasters actuall dropped the truck almost 12 hp. I had also read somewhere that the Lightning exhuast was very functional and was designed by an exhaust engineer for one of the big companies...ie bassani, flowmaster, dynomax. Maybe i was day dreaming? Still should have put the dual tips out both sides of the L if you asked me. That is the first thing that everyone who is not familiar with the L ask me when they see my truck....."sweet ride....hey, how come the exhaust is only on 1 side?"

The exhaust is the best there is, it can not be improved apon. The only thing you will do it change is the sound and hope you didn't loose power.

I too thought it was funny to have the exhaust on just one side, but you have remeber that the fuel tank is on the other side and that is what keeps you from doing it. Also comming out of just one side is one of the 2nd gen Lightning's trademarks.

haha.

oh yeah.............the gas tank. Hell, can't forget about that. Why don't we get rid of it and convert the engine to a hydrogen powered flux capacitated unit and put duallies out the other side!!! J/K
