EAA changes X Plan requirements

Anyone who intends to take advantage of the X Plan (Ford Partner Recognition Program) by becoming a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association(EAA)should do so now. As of 1 Dec 2001, X-Plan PIN numbers will be given only to those who have been EAA members for one full year or more. Hmmmmmm.
According to the article in the Nov 2001 EAA Magazine, the program has been in operation since last year. Nearly 1000 EAA members have taken advantage of the program.
What prompted the change????
Was EAA upset about getting so many new members who paid the $40 and used no other services except the X-Plan?? Whatever the reason, EAA will notice a significant reduction in the requests for X-Plan PIN numbers.

Undoubtedly, there are folks reading this post who know much more of the details than I. Let's hear from you.

Thanks for mentioning that. I've been putting off joining EAA just cuz I don't plan on buying a new vehicle until middle of next year... But, I just joined to make sure I can get my pin.

Thanks man

Sounds to me like Ford applied pressure on them. The EAA will see less membership dollars coming in now, I think.

Well, after hearing that they were going to disallow us joining if we hadn't been a member for a year I went ahead and did it! Any one know exactly how long it is gonna take for me to get the VIN #? Thanks for the info and help!

Snake,

It took me a mere 48 hours from joining to receipt of X-Plan PIN.

Happy shopping.

I would guess it's Ford...why would EAA care if they have dues-paying members who they never see? I even kinda-sorta predicted this back in August.
