New JL 5 lb pulley???

I was looking at ordering the 4 lb JL pulley, Ram air kit, and chip tonite, but when I went to check it out I noticed there is a 5lb pulley out now. When did this happen, anybody have experience with this pulley? My 2001 has about 1000 miles now and I want to start modding to get into the 12's.

I saw somewhere on here he also has a 6# pulley!!
I think the 4# is getting to the extreme as it is. I wouldnt want to be the first one on the block with a 5 or 6 lb. pulley just yet.

From what I've seen the 4# pulley barely clears the transmission cooler lines, so I can't imagine that a 5# or 6# pulley would fit without re-routing those lines. Of course, now that I think about it, re-routing those lines first would certainly make it ALOT easier to remove the stock pulley (more breaker bar travel). Hrmmm...

I'm going to wait for the 5lb llower and then add that along with my 2 lb upper.

I don't see it being to much of a probelm. Think about it guys, When does your blower over spin. At WOT when your end the end of you RPM range. I think it wouldn't be that bad if you only use that power once in awhile.

We'll see what heppens.

I have tested the 1.5 upper and 5lb. lower with no problem. The 5lb pulley clears the lines easily. The pulley's aren't much different in size. It doesn't take much to get an extra pound of boost, you can barely tell a difference in size between all of the pulleys.

99svtlightning,

Eric did you run that 5 lb. pulley friday at Cecil????
Is that what got you that 12.17 run???
When I was at JL's on friday, I saw that pulley and it looks noticebly bigger than the 4 lb. pulley he put on my truck.

Going from no pulley to the 3# required a reburn with JL's chip. What about going from 3# to 5#?

Going from a #3 lb. to a #5 lb. I think you would want to get a reburn of your chip.

No, I didn't run the 5lb at Cecil for the 12.17. I tried it out a couple of weeks ago, but went back to my current 4lb combo. I am having trouble hooking up and the 5lb pulley only makes it worse. You can have all of the hp/tq in the world, but it's useless with out traction. I'm going to put the 5lb back on when I get my ET Drags.

apparently you can't even get the #5 lower pulley yet. I saw them at E-town, but I still have been unable to obtain one from JL. hopefully soon.

Carl from Co. 6,

I doubt I'll hit the 11's since the weather is supposed to be in the 60's and my new parts haven't arrived yet.

superfords,

The 5# pulley is on JL's website and ready for orders. ;-)
