Help! SuperCharger Fell Apart!!!
I came out this morning and it was just sitting there like that.
You think the dealer will warranty it?
I sure hope this doesn't happen to anybody else...

It's actually an extra S/C that I picked up.
We're lucky enough to have a local Lightning owner that own's a ceramic coating shop, so it's off to him next week. Chrome might retain too much heat, so ceramic was the second option.
Tried polishing but it's just to rough of a casting to get a decent shine, IMO.
Special thanks to Johnny Lightning for his offer to help.
I'll post pics. when it's complete.

Rich,
Good luck with the ceramic coating, that casting is very rough. What I liked about polishing was that you could polish the inside too after you ported it (bowl area and lower exhaust ports).

Man, you do nice work... You might have me second guessing my decision after seeing that.
I just don't have the tools and patience to do it right, I guess.
Shoot me an e-mail if you get a chance. I might be interested in some of your "accessories".
BTW, what weight was the oil that poured all over my shoes?
Thanks,
Rich

Is it possible to extrude hone one of these hookas w/out messing up the rotors (like removing them?).

Rich.
What color was the fluid and was it still warm since the supercharger fell off. It is a light yellow in color (at least before you put it in the supercharger).
BfB,
You cannot Extrude-Hone the case with rotors in or out. Any port or polishing work must be done by hand and very carefully. You do not want to damage the machined surface or the bearings in their pocket on the rear of the case. These bearings should be pulled if you plan to apply any type of coating to the surface of the supercharger. Powder coating or ceramic coating requires a minimum amount of heat of about 500 to 550 degrees F. The ceramic coating process also requires the the part be washed/tumbled to produce a high luster (at least high as far as ceramic coating is concerned, you will never mistake it for chrome or high luster polishing). The polishing uses ceramic beads which can become lodged in in very tight areas and where the beads fail to abraid away the dull white surface, that will in fact be what you are left with. Case in point is the area between the ribs of the supercharger and also the fact that this case is a rough casting.

Couple more supercharger photos, paint removed and rough polishing started. Please look at the inside of the case and the bearing pocket.

I do not want to over run Rich's post with my stuff so at a later date I will post a photo of all of my polished junk mounted on my new Lightning four valve motor.

How about stripping it, smooth it out, then anadizing it a nice translucent color of your choice?
Tampa,
Might look pretty sweet to have all the aluminum pieces under the hood anadized red. Everyone does chrome. Let's see something different.

Silver-Bolt,
Do not wish to rain on the parade but anodizing does not take well to cast aluminum or even to aluminum that has been welded on. You tend to see color variations. Billet and extrusions are the best.
