Porcupines & Dragracing
LAST NIGHT AT N.H. DRAGWAY I RECEIVED A STRANGE REQUEST FROM THE STAGING OPERATOR. I WAS UP AT THE LINE ALL STAGED, TACH AROUND 1000 RPMS THEN SHE COMES OVER AND SAYS I HAVE TO BACK UP BECAUSE THERE IS A PORCUPINE ON THE TRACK. I STARTED CRACKING UP LAUGHING. HAS THIS EVERY HAPPENED TO ANY ONE BEFORE.
The last time I went to the roadcourse I nailed a woodchuck while doing about 80 mph. They closed the track for a few minutes to remove the body. The track worker said that the motorcycle racers had been complaining about a woodchuck running back and forth on the track while they were racing, so I did them a favor.
Around here in Maryland, it would probably be herd of deer or flock of Canadian geese.
Kinda neat in a way. When hunting season opens, you can go hunting and racing at the same time. Shotgun is optional.
Gives new meaning to NHRA: National Hunting And Racing Association.

Calgary Gopher Guts

I was racing Cobra replicas in Calgary and any time the breeze let up the gophers would run around. The FFR cobras have side pipes bolted on the frame with a low hanging bolt that is put on from the rear. 2 of the cars had gopers speared on the bolt and after a couple hours they bgean to cook.....
Gopher guts are slippery...
