Ass spanking.
A friend of mine has a new Electron Blue Z06. Very impressive car.
He ran a 12.55 the other night at the track and he only has 1000 miles on the car.
That car is the only thing I would think of trading my lightning for.

thepawn: Actually, I'm getting my '02 Z06 for $46K plus taxes, etc. It's definitely a buyers market right now.......

Yes, the 2002 Z06's (405hp) are out. I pulled a guy over in one last night for running a red light, it had 380 miles on it, and a $50k sticker!!!!!!!!!
He got a warning and we talked HP...he went for the 0% financing like many new car buyers are now.

Driving Skills, Indeed!
I have also seen a Z06 running low-mid 14's (at around 105) recently in Cincinnati. This guy "ripped" off four or five consistent passes in a row. It was a silver one.
The recipe for such a pass:
When the light goes green, gently let out the clutch from just above idle. Once the car is rolling, gingerly feed in the throttle, eventually flooring it at some point before redline is reached.
At some "high-ish" RPM (preferrably something safely below redline), release the accelerator, push the cluth firmly in (to full disengagement), wait a second or so for everything to mesh, then carefully select the next higher gear. When you are CERTAIN that the proper gear is selected, gently release the clutch pedal (to full engagement) and press the accelerator to the floor.
Repeat the gearchange procedure as many times as necessary.
I tried DESPERATELY to get lined up with this guy (wife had the video camera ready), but a flock of C5 guys already had "dibs". They seemed to enjoy spanking the bejeezus out of that Z06.
With a competent driver, those things will run 12's, all day. Zero percent financing is a beautiful thing, isn't it?

Sorry, I thought the L could run in the low 12s/high 11s with under $5K(which, like I said earlier, is far less than the difference in price between the two vehicles) in mods. I guess your trying to say it takes over $5K to do that?

Well a chip, filter, and pulley is about $1000.....and it is possible to run 12s. Most other vehicles will need alot more $ to even sniff the 12s. Bottom line....the L is the cheapest bang for the buck.
Well, the new blower set-up PSP is selling soon should be able to muster up numbers we havent deemed possible with an all motor setup. I guess we will have to wait and see.....
I contemplated the Z06 before i ordered the L........IMO a typical mid-life crisis vehicle with a hefty price tag. The L is "different".......

NOSTROMO: I would say the F-bodies are definitely the best bang for the buck. With "free mods", I've seen a few of them run 12s up in Bowling Green. What made it worse is I was there running with my '00 C5 and the best I managed was a 13.3 with a dual K&N intake.
