Problems with '02 L's

I currently have a 98 F150 w/ 4.6 and want to do the ultimate upgrade and get a 02 L. I went to the dealership this morning to talk to them about getting a 02 ordered. They then informed me that ford is having some production problems with the new model, therefore they can't put one on order. He told me that if they can't figure it out the 02 might never be made!

Please tell me this is a lie, I want the a True Blue L!!!!

Has anyone heard anything about this so called problem?

Thanks,

RH

Let's see: I don't think Ford has even started production on 2002 Lightnings. I think you're dealer is giving you erroneous info. Go to another one or contact the GM.

You may want to call 1-800-FORD-SVT to see if they have any info. on this.

show me the money!

I would be willing to bet that he is just feeding you some BS so that you'll decide to buy one of his '01s that have been sitting on the lot for a while. (since of course you won't want to wait until the '03s come out)

When I bought my '00 last October, my dealer told me that they only got 7 L's all year, and this would be the last one they were getting until the '01s came in March. It didn't really matter if it was true or not, I was going to buy it anyways, but I did believe him. I went back to the dealer about 1 week after I bought it for the clunk fix... guess what... a brand new black '00 L sitting on the lot

Like Bfb said, I don't think production has even started yet.

Yes, more dealer BS. Production should start in January for the 2002's.

Why does everyone believe so adamantely that Ford is even producing '03 Lightnings? I for one honestly do not think they will.

#1, new production run of all new F-Series would really be best to go a couple of years to sort out all of the customer quirks and complaints.

#2, Never has SVT introduced a first year model of any new Ford vehicle, save for the '94 Cobra, BUT that vehicle was basically a '93 motor/suspension wise, so it was easy to update over to it (same on the '99, '00 R, and '01 Cobras).

It ain't gonna happen in '03.

We have a schedule to build trannies for '03s, at one time they were getting the 5R110W, but I think that may get pushed back to '04, the F-150 redesign is pushed back to '04. There is not a schedule for Harley trannies for '03, though I have heard the HD gets a S/C 5.4 next year and the current 4R70W will not handle that motor, so they may be included in the '03 Lightning shcedule.
