velocity audio

has anyone ordered from them? if so, did you use the unsecure online form or fax it in?

id like to order an unfilled thunderform box for my lightning, but im worried about:

1. unsecure web form

2. no telephone number to actually CALL someone

3. i sent an email to them 2 days ago with some questions and received no answer.

anyone have any input?

If you feel that aprehensive already about the purchase, then I think you've already answered your question....

Why not try Circuit City?

I went to a custom audio place the other day(Tweeter) and they told me not to get the MTX thunderform box. I was kinda shocked and was thinking, ok here comes a scam. They told me that it is made of plastic and is very weak under pressure from the subs. They told me it rattles also. I went to another place and was told the same thing. I suggest spending some money and getting a custom box designed the way you want it.

that place sounds kinda shady
I would suggest getting a custom box built as well. You could get a real nice box built for about $100-200. Plus you could get a box built for 3 subs instead of MTX's 2.

I just ordered a mtx thunderform with subs and amp and also a set of tweeters from those guys. They said probably a week to get the stuff. I ordered on line and told them to call me. I spoke with someone and they seem legit to me. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks. They are a lot cheaper than anywhere else I found.

Of course the pro shops are going to tell you the Thunderforms are junk...they want to sell you a custom box for $600. I've had both, and the Thunderform is just as good as most custom boxes, and a lot better than the typical $100-$200, so called, 'custom' boxes. However, I agree that a good custom box will sound better than the Thunderforms.

I'm not saying the Thunderforms are a comp system, cuz their not. But they don't rattle, fade, warp, flex, melt, etc... That's a bunch of crap. I've had mine for over a year now in the hot Texas climate, and their still like new. They can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. This is not my opinion -- This is my experience.

As far as ordering from a place that doesn't have a secure web site, and no way to contact them...IMHO that's a no-brainer...I'd stay away.

thanks for the quick replies all...

the reason i was looking at this place was that they are much cheaper on the enclose than local places and a few people has had dealings with them in the past, but i could not remember who they were..

keep me posted easterisland! svtcobra1998@aol.com

Might want to check this site out

Here is one of my favorite sites for car audio, it has both secure ordering forms and a 1-800 number. Here is the site: http://thezeb.com/zebaudio.html

I checked some prices and it is on par with velocity. Hope this helps.

The MTX Thunderforms are quality enclosures.
I've actually had people ask if the box was stock from Ford since it matches the interior so well.
Solid sound running JL Audio W-3's. No rattle at all...

The only draw back is that it only holds two 10's. Sure would be nice if two 12's were back there.

I think I have a # for them. I will look tomorrow if I do I'll post it. I didn't have any problem ordering from their web site. I saved a few hundred with them compared to getting the stuff locally. Plus I didn't have to pay any taxes.
Looking back at my posts I ordered some tweeters and a loaded thunder form on the 10/17 I received the tweeters the next day and the thunderform 7 days later...
Heres a contact for them. No phone. http://www.velocityaudio.com/form2.htm

I just checked no phone #.
