Stange Speedo Question
Stange Speedo Question
Here's a weird one. Up here in Canada our speedometers are of course in kilometres (not kilometers). That's not the strange part. If you look closely at the '200' number you'll note that it's not a bold font like the rest of the numbers. In fact on both '200' and '220' the '0's are a different and more compressed font altogether. '40' is bolder than everything else on the dial. I just don't get it. I'm not complaining, just wondering if my American friends have similar readouts on your MPH speedos. Any other Canadians have the same thing as well? Stupid question?- oh definitely, but what the hell!
Back in the seventies when the National Speed Limit was 55mph, auto manufacturers made the speedo '55' look different, either bigger, different color, glow in the dark, etc...(I guess they were required to do that).
Does Canada have any laws that may relate to the numbers that are different?

Yes, it looks terribly tacky, but Ford did it for character space on the dial.
Seems your truck will only do 136.7. Strange, mine will do 140.
For real though, I wonder how off your speedo is at higher speeds vs. US speedos.
