Question JDM traction Bars and F1 tires

For those of you who have installed JDM's traction bars, do they help much on the street with your F1 tires? I'm considering buying them but don't know if they will help that much on the street as opposed to on the track with slicks. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

hello there fellow Virginia person, you are only about 45 minutes away from me (west end of Richmond). You might try asking Totaled (from Roanoake, VA). He has an 01 L with those bars.

later,
chris haynie

P.S. did you check out the MIR Ford Fever race/show thread?

Thanks Superfords, I know Jim quite well, met him at the track way back before he totalled his Z06. He is a Great fellow American!! I just sent him an e-mail asking about the traction bars.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you before I moved to Germany this summer. Sure enjoyed my short stay in Virginia though, what a beautiful State.

Anybody else have any experience with the traction bars though. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Jeff,

The traction bars are very nice IF you go to the track often as they prevent the rear end flex that causes the aluminum drive shafts to break. I personally would not purchase them if I didn't go to the track often as I have noticed no traction benefits. If you have no plans of going to slicks I would recommend spending the money on other mods.

BTW - You are going to have a smile that you can't get off your face with the latest mod you ordered

Good luck!

Thanks Jim, I just read your e-mail also. Seems a lot people are getting the shift kits and/or transmission valve body. Have those made your shifts even quicker or are they just better for the trans? Also, is that something that a weekend mechanic can do or did you have to bring it in and have it done?

I think I will check into the electric fan as well. I was under the impresion that it was not that difficult to change. I guess I will talk with Sal, Jim or JL before I order it.
