My overdrive light is flashing......I realize this means I have a Transmission problem......I had it scanned by a friend and it came up as converter clutch celenoid fault......does anyone know if this is really bad or not.......any info would be appreciated

btw It's a 2001 with 5900 miles

JL Pulley

I had the same problem with my "regular" F-150. The dealer replaced the selenoid and my trans worked better than new afterwards. I would take it to the dealer.

Does the truck seem to be a bit sluggish or is the light just flashing?there is a fuse that controls the o2 sensor, did you check that? It's in the front of the fuse box.

Have you tampered with your chip recently? If you don't unplug your battery and fry your pcm, this can possibly be a result. Just a thought!!!

If I were you I would disconect the battery and take out the chip. This will rule out the chip as a problem if the light starts flashing again. If it doesn't start to flash than it might be a chip problem.

Good Luck

If the pcm is fried this will not work. , but definatly worth a try to rule out the chip itself.

Is it me or does it seem like every time I see this problem their is a Diablo chip involved? That is what I am running Probably just a coinsidence

Why does'nt ford make the "blue" 02 That shade instead. This is just my preference, but I am not impressed with the "new blue". That shade or even a lighter shade (no flames, but kinda like the shade you see on the si civics all the time) would look awsome on a Lightning. Just my .02.

well, when I sent the chip in to be reburned for the 4th time I didn't disconnect the battery.....oops......the previous times I pulled the chip out I didn't disconnect the battery either........just pulled the keys out of the ignition......truck seems to run fine and the o/d light didn't begin to flash til after I pulled the chip out for the 4th reburn (first 3 burns were by PDQ performance).....it was dying on the 1-2 shift so I sent it to johnny....everything seems fine now except fot the O/D light flashing still and of course the check engine light is on........If the pcm was fried wouldn't the run horrible or not start at all? maybe I'll yank the chip out and take it to ford and see what they have to say about it.

Teh Solenoid in the tranny is prolly fried, and your converter is not locking because of it, that what the code means. It's an easy fix but be glad it's under warrenty, the solenoid prolly costs about $250 give or take. It's a valve body, drop the pan and change it out, dealer should be able to do it in 1 day if they don't swap out the tranny. It could be chip related, though, so I'd pull the chip.
