i got it back today and i didnt real floor it but i did give it some gas and the thing burned some rubber. did ford really use the 2001 manifold and intercooler?im going to the track as soon as i can to test it. even though it feels better i think im gonna trade it in next spring for a 2002..

 

No one can really understand the lure of these trucks until they own one--and, maybe not even then. Your case in point--awful problems with the eng. caused by a bad design(?) of the I/C. Ford fixes it with an 01 part--it runs good--and you want another one! Only us owner/drivers will ever understand this--I know I do.

Houndog - What MD dealer did you take your L to? I need to take mine in for the intercooler repair as well, but I am dreading having to take it to the dealer... If you had a good experience where you went, I might just take my to the same place...

Darcar ford in Lanham md..I know they have one in stock ( they ordered one and I ordered one)..Ask for Mark Gresai,, tell him Ted Olszewski told you to call him..I had mine done last week..

 

Mine went in this morning for the new I/C parts. Should get it back tonight. Took two months to get the parts. Hopefully I will get more power.

 

Cool, I should be getting mine done sometime in the next 2 weeks! I will post as soon as I take a test drive afterwards to see if their is more power! All I need now is a new set of rear tires so that I am not spinning all the time!!

 

I got my Lightning back in the same day and they did the wiper motor, intercooler, and threw in a new drive shaft assembly on top of that! I wasn't having any problems with it but I guess they had 5 L's that week that were getting vibs at 70mph so they went ahead and changed it. Maroone Ford down here is great.

It may be my imagination, but the truck does seem to be a bit more responsive. I would also like to know if this is the 2001 manifold?? The parts listed as being replaced are AB KIT INTAKE MANIFOLD and ANTIFREEZE RADIATOR.

 

it didnt take long, i ordered the parts on friday and it was ready tuesday night if it wasnt for the weekend i would say only 3 days max.

 

I had the same experience with mine. I'm not sure if it is worth any power or if the bad ic robbed you of so much power it just feels 10x better with the new one. Anyways, this beast won't stop smok'in em now.
