Question Exhaust Tip tips/suggestions? Need help...

Hello guys,
A few questions for those who may know...I've searched and can't find the answers.

I am going to get the Magnaflow #12468 and some new stainless steel tips for my B-day next week...I have a pretty good girlfriend!
I can't seem to locate any SS tips that I like. I love the Bassani tips, but I assume you must buy atleast the cat-back system to get them. The Bassani website is under construction, does anyone know if I can buy these tips separately?

If not, I am looking for some 4" angle cut stainless steel tips with a 2.5" inlet. Magnaflow offers some nice SS tips, but the angle is only 15 degrees, whereas ours are closer to 35. I like the angle on the stock tips, I just want larger diameter and stainless steel.

Maybe Borla intercooled, but they are $60 apiece for 3.5" diam.

Anyone have suggestions? Pictures....please post.

Thanks in advance

Brad:

Not sure if they're SS, but BadBolt produces some highly polished L-specific tips--search under his user name--

Do you mean BaBolt (michael phillips)?

If so then I just sent him an e-mail last week about some tips and he said, quote: " I have not assembled any in quite a while and I guess it is really very simple in that I don't feel like doing it any time soon." so I'm not sure where exactly that leaves us. He makes some sweet looking stuff, but It sounds like it started as a hobby that got out of hand and grew into a P.I.T.A.

So you may need to go for the Borla or Bassani ones.

later,
chris

Yes, BaBolt's tips are beautiful, but I would like some a little bigger and a little less expensive...the mod budget is small.

Hey Superfords, do you know where I can get some Bassani tips?

Any other suggestions...anyone?

Hey Whitlight,I got some chrome tips from a Harley supercrew.Much larger & brighter than stock. Also they are a similar angle cut.check out Karkraft.they sell for like $129.They will also give you a little more of a rumble to your exhaust tone.

stainless steel vs chrome?

I do like the look of those Harley tips, but I don't know if want chrome. Doesn't chrome pit and eventually rust? How could I keep chrome tips looking new and shiny?

Thanks again everyone!

Hey Chim Chim..I know that you posted that you had the H/D's installed.Being that they're straight , how did you have them angle out .Did you have to fabricate the pipe between the tips and the muffler?Any pics?-Thanks!

HD tip dimensions

Does anyone know the dimensions of those HD tips? I think I may have to go with these if they will fit easily.

Are they 4" or 3.5" outlet? 2.5" inlet?

If someone has these tips or knows the actual spec, let me know...

Talking

BABOLT made some but not in awhile. I think it was such a messy dusty job that his wife threatened to put him outside with the dog. If you race consider extending them out an additional 1 1/2" or so. After sitting in the pits and doing a burnout, the L exhaust justs flows water out the tips and it drops right on the pavement where the pass side slick goes. Extending out the tips would drop the water outside the slick path.

Speedin,
I have been looking at those too, you can get them for $54.49 from Husker High Perf Exhaust:
http://store.yahoo.com/exhaustpros/index.html
This is the same place that offers the lowest price on the Magnaflow mufflers.
Does anyone have these on their Lightning, I would love to see a picture.

Great idea noelvm, but I don't race enough to do that...I like the tucked in look

Whitelight i'm currently running with a Magnaflow 12468 and the Harley tips. The tips are 4" with the same degree angle cut as the L,Just bigger.Input is 2.5" .As Noel states you are better off extending the tips out about 1.5-2".I did this & it looks great!Sounds even better!!You will have to have a muffler shop install for you as the angle on the input of the H.D. tips is a little different than ours. They charged me $40. As for your other post i'm in the same boat as you,Have 4-way chip/lower pulley/stage II ram air, filter.only 1 trip to the track with a very traction limited 13.99 @ 101mph.{best 60' of 2.38!}100*F nite, pump gas /street program.I was VERY dissapointed! On everyone's advice i'm waiting for cooler weather.I need more practice and a better technique to get those 60' times down. Also will try race gas /race program & maybe some ET streets.Hoping for at least a low 13??
