Talking (NON L) Well I bought a rice burner last night!!!!

Was driving home last night and I stopped by honda to check out and see if they got the new CFR 450 dirt bike in, and nope no go yet. But to my luck the guy that worked there said I could put some money down and pick it up on tuesday when it gets here. So I said what the hell and bought it. He gave me a pretty good deal for suck a hot item. Totalled out to $6,662.00 with a new helmet, boots and some pants to get the complete look.

Anyway I know I'll probably get razzed for posting something that has nothing to do with a L at all, but go ahead I don't care. I just wanted to share something with my fellow L owner's that made me so happy to finally get again. I haven't road a bike in a long time and I can't wait. Finally I got some people to go riding with. My co-worker has a YZ 426, and a bunch of other guys that we deal with all the time in other companys have some bikes to. And to top it all off the one guy own's a landscaping company and has about 20 acres of land and we all went out there with our bobcats and backhoe's and made a track. Its no motocross crazy high flying track but its pretty damn nice to ride on whenever you want for free.

Anyway that's about it for me until tuesday when I go pick it up. I'll take some pics of it next to the L so I can do a comparisson of the red color. That should kind make it L related. HAHAHAHAHA

Later Joe

Very cool indeed. Hey, go and enjoy it. I only wish I still had my dirt toy. A few years back I had a FL 400 HONDA ODYSSEY, and loved it. But had to get rid of it because where i lived in NJ they frown on driving where your not permitted. But now in DE.....hmmmmm

Sweet

I will tell you one thing, 4 stroke dirt bikes are getting badder and badder lately. Between the new CRF450, YZF426, and KTM520, they are turning the dirt bike market upside down!! I used to ride 2 strokes and thought I would never get caught dead on a 4 stroke, boy how that has changed. I am planning on getting a YZ426 here next Spring. Once you get it, post some thoughts on it's power and so forth. Honda's are by far the best built Japanese dirt bike made. Have fun and be careful! Later.

Dirt bikes? Dirt Bikes! What gives you the nerve to waste all of our time with something as childish and immature as dirt bikes!!!

That said, I'm sure you're going to absolutely love the new CR450F. I can't get past the noise aspect of a 4-stroke to buy one myself, but I always like to see manufacturers step it up and try to out-do the competition with newer, better, and more powerful equipment. Hands down, Honda has the best build quality of any of the major players, so that'll keep your maintenance costs on the down-low, which is a good thing. As soon as the season's over I'm going to sell my 01CR250 and use the $ as a deposit on a new one...but a friend I race with is planning to get a 450F, so maybe after I try his my CR order form will change from a 250 to a 450. You never know.

Anyways, have a blast and let us know what you think.

Later...

GK

4 stroke dirtbikes rock. I've always ridden the 4 strokes. Can't stand the ring ding sound of the 2's. I just read an in-depth article on the 450's. Have you seen the piston in that thing. It's a disk with a couple bosses for the writst pin and just enough thickness for 2 rings. I can't believe it can stay oriented in the bore properly. It's a teeny thing. Probably have to do ring jobs on it frequently. Nice bike though.

Sal, When I get used to her in a while I'm going to try and mod the hell out of it for the fun of it. I little bottle on the side would be kinda slick. I could do a 20hp shot probably!! HEHEHE Chit that bike only wieghs 225 LBs. With me thats about 430 pounds, Thats what I call Power to weight ratio. Honda said that the new 450 has the best power to weight ratio of any dirt bike on the market!!! Estimated 55HP stock. I'm hoping that honda is a little conservative. This will definetly put a damper on my L mods though, but I figure after this motor gets rebuilt and I get my recall donw, this truck will be pretty much a bad mother with a 200 shot of juice. I hope your right about that much spray Sal. Oliver rods, and J&E pistons right. Hey, can you rebuild my motor with what I want, or do you not have the machine work to do it. I DUNNO! I would rather have you do it and then once Its done next sprind I could bring the truck on a trailer, install the motor and do a dyno with a custom program for the 200 shot. What do you think?

Hey Lrutt: the 450 piston and motor design is based off the F1 technology that honda has. And From seeing the F1's on last sunday, I can't wait to see what thats all about. The salesmen said that these bikes rev up real fast compared to other bikes on the market and they hold up real well. He said that honda would expect an average rider that goes out once a week to get a good 3 to 4 years out of it without having to tinker with it at all. I'm sure you all know me well enough, so his theory goes right out the window. HEHEHE

Talking

Ownin a motor cycle is like having a pet rattlesnake. Every once in awhile they rear up and bite ya. My son is fond of those things. He can't go through a metal detector at the airport. There's too many screws and metal parts in his legs. Be careful

I guess the old saying of 2 strokes truck and 4 strokes suck doesn't apply to todays latest bikes. I still like the sound of the 2 strokes. Been toying with the idea of throwing a KX back into the stable.
