Unhappy I need some help getting into the 12's

I was at Milan dragway last friday night and the best time I could click off was a 13.52 @ 101.88 on my stock F-1's. I have a 3 lb lower blower pulley ( which I thought was a 4 and didn't find out differently until I had it installed and called Johnny Lightning with a little problem with it) I have a 90mm mass air w/filter, a diablo chip, and 410 gears. Sooooooooo, how about a little help with a few mods. I want it to get into the 12's. Thanks

Sounds like the chip needs a little tweeking, also what was your running weight? 13.5 with those mods is a little off even for Milam Draway. Time to regroup.

What year truck is it!

I'm sending my 99 in for the intercooler recall and I guess that should be good for some more power from what I've heard.

try that first, ITS FREE!

Take off your sway bar.
Then, SLICKS!!!!!!
Than electric fan kit and water pump.
Upper pulley
JL power cooler will help out allot.
Throttle body

Whats your 60 foots like?
Do you race in full wieght?
What sea level are you at?
What are the track conditions?
How much gas do you carry along with you.
Do you ice you blower at all?
Do you let her sit for an hour between runs to cool down?

All that makes a huge difference in performance with these trucks.

Or if you want to just screw it and run 12's all the time, put her on the bottle and get it over with. Make your own air!

Getting into the 12's shouldn't be a problem, get a good cold air intake,JL lower pulley,Chip(JDM FLIP CHIP)just my choice.Slicks, you already have the 90mm ,what gears do you have? Also if you get slicks get MT ET Streets 16x26x11.5 ,JMHO
Also as RT said get the sway bar off,get good weight trannsfer.

Well

60 foot times would be helpful. Something you might want to consider is stickier tires and/or some transmission mods, like the line valve mod or the PSP/Factory-Tech valve body. Removing weight is of course a free mod

Finally a good answer from Johnny. MPH is the most important thing to this equation. Your MPH is only 101 and that shows that the truck is not really making the power that it should. ET is way to dependent on the track and traction, but mph will always tell you what your truck is doing. It is actually running a decent ET for the MPH. 60' foot times really does not matter at this point. I would agree with Johnny that the chip is not working i.e not enough fuel curve, timing or retarding etc. Does the truck shift at the factory shift point. Something is wrong in the combo. Good luck.

Thanks for all the posts. My truck doesn't have a thing taken off, but I have added a hard tonneau by innovations to it.
JL, I will try to find your number and give you a call. I didn't get my chip from you. But I wish I did. I was told my chip was burned for the blower pulley, 410 gears, 90mm mass air. I know the truck shifts faster, but I have noticed something that seems odd. My brother and I was out driving around and when I left a traffic light slowly I noticed the truck shifted 4 times!!! That would make it a 5 speed auto. I told my brother that it did, and he said that was impossible cause they don't make one for the lightnings. So we did it again, and sure enough it shifted 4 times. I guess the sway bar will come off. OK, now to find JL's phone number

Well, I can't find Johnny Lightnings number, so I'm waiting for him to email me back. I forgot who asked for my 60 ft times, but my best was 1.98..............Don't even ask about my reaction times, cause evidently my brain housing group wasn't working....LOL I think I have Some-timers disease

Well

Your 60' time is not that bad so it looks like the chip is your culprit. 13.5 at 101mph with a 1.9 60' is about right, it's just not right for the mods that your truck has. You might want to pop that chip out and run it again, see if it makes a difference. Also, if you decide to reinstall the chip clean the contacts on the computer really well. The first time I installed my chip the contacts were not clean enough and I got no improvement from the chip. After I cleaned the contacts really really well, the thing loses traction in 2nd gear Hope that helps. Good luck with your truck!
