When I rebuilt the L I put a Canton Windage tray in (Pruchased from JLP). Too many things have changed at one time to tell if ti helped or no. But I figured it could not hurt.

The one I purchased bolts to the bottom of the block between 2 oil pan gaskets (need to modify gaskets "take tabs off"). It comes with studs and nuts to install.

Who's dyno tests are you basing this on? Or is this your opinion?

Did you get the canton pan also? Did you have to cut the windage as I did to get the oil pickup support bracket to fit?

I had to open the hole a little for the pickup to fit correctly.

easterisland - It is really just my opion but that is based on the fact that nobody (manufacturers) have proved it and on discussions with some people that build these things. If you really want to reduce horsepower loss from the oil coming into contact with the crank then you need a crankshaft scraper which sits a few thousandths off the crank counter weights and sort of "peels" the oil off the crank.

Thiese windage trays have been around since the 60's at least. They MAY have some benefit on motors that turn 8000 rpm but there is now way they will give you 10-20 rwhp on our trucks. If you got 2-3 rwhp I'd be suprised and I could also make the case that it was due to +/- dyno error.

A windage tray or screen is easy to make. If there were any real benefits there would be all kinds of manufactures stamping them out and selling them. There would also be all kinds of dyno data out there.

If you have to have every mod then I say go for it; it will only be good for bench racing though.
