PSP Accumulator differences

This is a really dumb question only because I did something really dumb. I purchased a used factory_tech accumulator from an individual who posted it hear on this board. I have 99L and was going to install it tonight but don't know if I should now because I can't find my contact info or remember the name of the guy I bought it from to find out what year his L is.

Question?

Is there a difference in the Factory_Tech/PSP accumulators as pertaining to the year of the L?

Thanks, B

Dont think there's a difference between the years. But I do know that Factory_Tech has since upgraded them. Hope this helps

Not really sure, he would have to say. But I think they had a slight problem with the earlier ones, I think they were shifting way too hard. And I believe on the later versions he had that corrected. I may be wrong....but I think thats it.
Wish I knew more

Thanks,
I hope to find the guy I bought it from. He said he only had it 4 months and it didn't shift hard enough. He preferred the shift his friend was getting from the Line Mod instead.

Vin,
Yes..that's the one Hey, do me a favor?? Get your truck tothe track already! LoL
Your not far from Cecil, take a trip down one day. If I dont have the truck, I will have the Stang. Today the weather was fair. With my software the BP was around 29.20 today. Not Cecil great air, but decent enough.

Anything that I built will work on a 99 or 00, the 01s have different valves that are less likely to stick, that's all. The '01s are much more sensitive to a sticky valve so if you have an '01 you need the ones built after June of this year, but the 99s and 00s will work either way.

Hope this helps,

G

Factory Tech or anybody else who might know: What is the story on the various "line mod valves" on the market, I understand that there are two parts (a spring and a valve or is it a shift accumulator?) which I think that PSP sells but alot of the others on the market are just one of the parts? Are both parts needed? I almost ordered one yesterday (not from PSP) but I think it is only one piece not two. Should I wait and get both parts? Also what is the benefit to purchasing the valve body? Are there any further modifications in the valve body, or is it just an easier installation?

thanks,
chris

Call me foolish or just not in the know about these things but....I purchased my kit based soley upon the postings by Factory_Tech on this board. Talk about knowledge of transmissions...I am curious as to the reasoning behind all the kits....

A line mod valve changes the line pressure throughout the accumulator which will shorten shift duration, or give you quicker shifts. In addition to a line mod valve, the accumulator I make for Sal also has helper springs in the upper accumulator circuit, which for the early kits is all I did (in a new accumulator valve body). When the '01s came out, the first kits I bult for them had a problem with the 2-3 shift "bang" shifting, and to correct this I started changing the 321 valve which was sticking causing hte bang shift, and on the 2-3 shift I put in a stronger 310 spring which further prevented the 321 valve from sticking. Now, I think I make a better product for a few reasons, first, the Line mod valve goes for about $80 I'm told, and that is the starting point for mine, just to give you some comparison, I pay $18 for a line mod valve, so I think the price is pretty high, I'd feel silly blowing that kind of coin on a part that weighs about 2 oz. Second, I put the valve in a NEW accumulator, so any wear you have on the other valves, sleeves etc... won't be an issue, you have new throughout. And last, I think most of the people who buy my parts will agree, I give the flat out best customer service you'll find, If another vendor sells you a part and something goes wrong, what are the chances you'll get a personal e-mail within a day or two from the guy who designed, built tested and serviced the part? Mild consideration on a $200 accumulator, but when you drop $3,000 on a performance tranny do you get the home phone number of the guy who built it? These are things I do, routinely. I also will swap out any part I built regardless of whether you bought it from me, Sal or used, pretty much no questions asked, who else will do that? And Finally, I'm darn reasonable on cost, no one ever paid me $200 for a part and when they got it asked themselves "is this it?" You don't always get what you pay for, but if I sell you a part, you at least get a good deal.

Thanks,

G
