Talking Cool Night at the track

Hey second time at the track with my black L. Had a great night it cooled off to about 78 degrees in Mobile Al. and the 1/8 track was open. I took the bottom of the air box completely off and made some staps out of cheep tie raps to hold the K&N panel filter in, other than that its bone stock.
R/T .736
60ft 2.057
1/8 8.365
mph 77.84
I was very pleased......time for a chip and pulley.

Running 8.30's, I'd expect you to be running 84-85mph.

I dunno, mine ran 8.50@84 with a 1.97 60'. 6mph is a big difference. Maybe they need to check their trap speeds.

8.0's@75... I've never heard of such. Dunno what to tell you. Ummm, have fun I guess. lol

Chip and filter. Not to sound likea smartass, but the 1/8th mile traps at my local 1/4 mile track are right. Your's is the one that sounds funny. Stock L's run upper 8's low 9's in the 1/8th at 80-81mph.

Click on this one:https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=51040

This is one of the faster stock L's I've seen.

Those Speeds Are Off, Big Time!

'Hooters:

You trap speeds are goofy, Chief. Big-time off. Your track has a SERIOUS problem with their traps, for sure.

Where were you racing, at Atmore or Mobile International? I used to run my bike a lot at Atmore and for a rinky-dink little local redneck track, it was a pretty good place to run (seemingly accurate timing, decent prep, smooth surface, adequate shutdown area).

You might also want to look into running at Gulfport. It's a full quarter-mile and a pretty decent track as well, all things considered. A bit of a drive, but worth it.

Do you see a lot of Lightnings around Mobile? I lived there for five years in the 90's but haven't been back in a while. I sure miss the Original Oyster House on the causeway, I can tell you that.

There are quite a few L's around but most of them are 99 or 00. Me and two others show up at the track pretty often and there running about 8.5 to 8.7. Our traps may be off I don't know its kind of a stang track set up and real short at the end. Some of the cars running in the high 5's have a hard time stopping because of the fence right at the end of the track.

"red-neck"

is a 'negative' word to we of the Southern persuasion, but I agree, his mphs are too low.

Question for ya though does that mean my times are bogus too? I've only had the L for about 4 months and only been to the track twice.
