Now what could it be?

In the beginning I had the clunk but it wasn't too bad. The truck was pulling to the right so I thought before I took it in for the alignment I'd order Herb's washers. Took it in and had the dealer perform the fix and align. Got the truck home and noticed the clunk. Was told to greese the steering stops. Took it in relayed info and said to check torque on bolts... Dealer said they fixed. Got the truck home... still has the clunks. WTF?

I know. Inconsequential in light of this week. But it's still puzzeling.

I have seen this on one or two Ls!!! There are two slotted holes for the lower control arm bolts. Which would mean, if you fix one, then another will still exist, and still cause the clunk.

It is rare, but you may have it.

I have also seen on some '01s where the slotted hole is on the backside of the lower control arm, where most '99 and '00s the slotted hole is on the front part of the arm.

The lower control arm is slotted on both sides of the rear mount. Actually it is the frame that is slotted. If you dealer installed Herb's washers make sure that he installed both in the correct location. And that the raised portion of the washer is fitted into the slotted recess. I have seen posts about other dealer installs where the washer was installed back wards.
