Unhappy transmission problems?

My L is having some serious tranny problems. It's happened twice so far, but when it happens it's at full throttle and from first to second gear it seems to disengage. It sends the RPM's to 6000 and just loses all power. Has this or anything similar to this happened to anyone else? Desperately need some advice. Thanks

Cool Stop by...

Terry,

I don't recall any members having a problem like that in my 1 1/2 years of reading the boards. I could've missed one though. If I had to guess, I'd say your filter is clogged or it's low on fluid. Or maybe a pump is on the fritz. Factory_Tech could tell you for sure if he sees this. Don't drive it hard like that till you know what it is because you're making serious power now. Bring it by my house this weekend and let me look at it. I've got something to show you and ask you about anyway....

Jim

could be the transmission,or the converter unlocking, then it's hitting the revlimiter, that's what happened to me.end result was a new tranny, but factory tech will know more that i do.

Does it shift from first to second and then fall back to 1st. My truck was doing this and it turned out to be a bad pcm and manual position sensor.

I'm going to try to stop by Saturday evening Jim. If you're not home, I'll probably stop by Sunday afternoon. I appreciate the responses.

I had the same problem with my 01 with about 900miles on her. It turned out to be a problem in the valve body a diode that was self destructing. I was having problems with delayed engagement from reverse to first and eventually on the way home from work from first to second it felt like it hit neutral. I coasted to a stop shut the truck off and then it shifted ok back to the dealership. I received a new replacement transmission.

Hope this helps,
Bill
