2001 Dyno Experience: Is a K&N Panel Filter worth it?
Great. Now for your next test buy 5 sets of TR 6 plugs. Gap one set at .38, one at .40, one at .42, one at .44 and one at .46. make three runs on each set. I will send $25 for the results. I'm sure others would too.

I think it will go faster if you leave the 7 mm coil pak screws off until you are finished and decide which gapped plug you want to run after the test.

Good work, Chief. This is the kind of testing that we need to see more of. Right on the money. I have to say that you settled the issue for me, unless someone comes up with some VERY convincing contradictory information.

Initial setup: BONE STOCK TRIM (paper filter, no chip, etc):
*1st run: time? downshifted, aborted.
*2nd run: 1:05pm 349.1HP / 414.3TQ
*3rd run: 1:07pm 347.0HP / 415.0TQ
--------------------------------------------------
Second setup: Insert K&N Drop in filter:
*4th run: 1:11pm 356.5HP / 424.9TQ
*5th run: 1:13pm 352.2HP / 419.1TQ
--------------------------------------------------
Third setup: Factory Airbox with NO FILTER installed:
*6th run: downshifted, aborted
*7th run: 1:30pm 347.3HP / 415.4TQ
*8th run: 1:32pm 346.1HP / 415.5TQ
Note no filter in factory box gave lower numbers than stock paper
--------------------------------------------------
as you can see, my dyno experience verified that no filter at all looses HP, but my K&N drop in testing found anywhere from 3 to 10 HP and 5 to 10 FT/LBS
what now?

that hit the nail right on the head. if you run the
k&n panel filter on the 01L to see the gain the
4inch cut out is the way to go .
called the HIGH ROLLER special
Lowes sells some great tubing in tool section part of the
dust collector $18 4inch x10feet all smooth on the inside no ribs
hooking mine up to boss scoop like JL RAM AIR
also got a slide shut off for rainnny days all by the dust collector

I didn't see this until I went back just looking through old posts!
My momma would shoot me if I switched. This is the only time my family is divided; Alabama/Auburn football, LoL! I think we have nearly 50 members total in my family so it gets pretty intense at times.
LONG LIVE THE BEAR!
