Question to many problems

ive had my lightning for two years now and for the first year everything was going fine but now it keeps giving me new problems. all of the sudden when i put the truck from drive to park or reverse to park the rpms get really low almost to a point where the engine will shut off and another thing when i turn my wheels the rpms go down too. what going on? thats not the only problem my intercooler is leaking, the alignment is off, it has trouble starting and other stuff too. sorry for b*tching so much but i think when you buy a $30000 truck it shouldnt be a pain in the @ss and give you all these problems. i love my truck but i think i got screwed.

There are always problems with fast cars and trucks. Even my friends BMW M3 has problems. Take it to the dealer and make 'em fix it. You arent alone.

I hear ya.

The other day my temp guage stopped working, then started working anain, and yesterday while MAKING A RIGHT THE ENGINE STALLED while I was turning into a parking lot. The problem there was that the steering wheel locked at about 10 MPH, what if I was doing 60 MPH. This thing is becomming a peice of crap, and deadly at that!

My problem is when I go to the mall or the beach, women start taking their clothes off and try to get into the truck.
What a piece of crap!

10:15pm last nite--pull into a Shell c/store on I-75 for some 93 oct. after a few hrs. of runnin' at the Silver Dollar Raceway. There are 3 cars and an Explorer filled with FSU gals and guys--headed north for a Sat f/b game--I guess. As I'm fillin' the L up, two of the coeds keep lookin' my way and gigglin' to each other. Now, I'm no orge, but I am 62 and I don't think they were gigglin' about me. Sure 'nuff, as they idled past me, the two babes stuck there heads out the back window and hollered "bitchin' truck mannn--we love your truck!!". I bowed modestly and commenced to squirt gas all over my wrangler dungarees...hehehe

sorry to hear about your problems, but have you already gone out of warranty? you are covered for 3 years 36,000 miles. Have you dealt with any particular dealership in your town? What I am trying to say is do you have a history of doing your maintenance work with your dealer that you bought the truck from?

alot of people on here are always talking about how they REFUSE to take their vehicle to the dealership, but if you do build a relationship with one dealership's service department, then they may well help you out (if you approach them in the right manner) even after your warranty has expired. If you deal with a BLUE OVAL certified dealer, they are authorized to take care of a lot of repairs up to a certain dollar amount without even contacting Ford. In other cases they may be able to get aide from Ford to cover as much as 80% of the cost of the repair, leaving you with a SIGNIFICANTLY (sp?) smaller out of pocket expense.
Just don't expect to buy your vehicle and then never return to the dealership untill at 79,000 miles you have a problem and expect them to help you out with anything.

just my .02, hope you get your truck fixed. sounds like a possible IAC or Vacuum problem. any check engine light or codes?

later,
chris haynie

How many miles on truck? Have you changed your fuel filter? Ford recommends changing it every 15K. Many of think sooner is better. This can be the cause of many small annoying problems. As for the intercooler be thankful you don't have an LS1. They seem to have a nasty habit of spinning berings. All high performance vehicles require more maintence than regular vehicles. This one is not bad considering. The intercooler leak my be affecting some of your problems. I just got "the fix" put in mine. I'm glad Ford cared enough to make the fix. They never did anything, for the most part on the bad paint job on the 93 Lightnings.

Yeah Jake, these trucks are a 'gas' in more ways than one--btw, the part about the gas on the Wranglers I made up--the rest is the truth.

Your engine starting problems could be a direct result of your leaking intercooler.....fluid in the cylinder chambers will have to get blown out before it'll start.
