(NON L) New orleans and Mardi gra???????

Ok my brother is getting married on march 9 2002. So I'm the best man and I need to plan a party for him. I know that he loves new orleans and mardi gra so thats where we are all going to go. The only problem is that I've never been there so I don't know anything about it. So I have a few question for you guys and I trust you guys, so here we go!!!

What the best hotel to stay in ( by best I mean the funnest hotel), please tell me your experience and if you could describe it to me that would be great!

What else do I need to know about?

I basically want his bachleor party to be like the girls gone wild video's on TV, so fill me in guys!

Mardi Gras is Feb 12th for 2002. partying starts about 2weeks before that. try the Royal Sonesta in the quarter 504-586-0300. the smaller hotels farther down Bourbon with balconeys, are out of sight $$$, and reserved years ahead of time. it's your kind of party , Killa

I just called up a couple places and I figured that since fat tuesday is the 12th that we should go for the 8th to the 10th. weekend thing you know. The prices arn't to bad (around $350 for 4 people and two queen beds), but the thing is that you have to book an automatic 5 days from the 8th to the 13th .

So when do all the parties start then if fat tuesday is the 12th.

BBQ, you said TWO WEEKS BEFORE I could probably get a nice hotel for the weekend before then. Would it even be fun though being that far ahead of the rest?

friday the 8th it will start at a fever pitch and escalate until tues 12th at 12 midnight. at 12 the NOPD ends the whole "quarter" party on horseback. the previous weekend (the 1st/2nd) there will be parades and partying going on, but nothing like the 8th-12th.

I always stayed at the Royal Sonesta. If you dont have reservations now,you may still be able to get a room.usually a 4 night deal will run $2000.We go in on a room. You have to weasel a room from the Mardi Gras reservationist because yhey lock out the balconies for corporate accounts.Just be persistant and nice.If you buddy up with them, some will help. Most places open the books for reservations on Aug. 1st.This is pretty involved for even the most experienced goers.

I have stayed at the Royal Sonesta before, it is one of the best hotels on Burbon street. If I were you I would ask them for a room facing the courtyard, unless you want to be awake all night. It is pritty load if you have a room facing the street.

Make sure you bring a digital camera, so you can get some pictures of all the ***** you will se. Man it is a fun place, party on bud.

I am from New Orleans and if you need some help E-mail me at lcc22@bellsouth.net. You can try nola.com that is a good website about New Orleans. Mardi gras parades start Jan 12th a month before fat tuesday that is when everything starts.
