side to jack up? I say front.

valve body is 80 in/lbs

pan is 15 - 20 FT/lbs.

gasket is reuseable.

No 4x4 pan and filter?

Start at the right rear corner and alternate side to side from the corner bolt until you reach the left front corner.

oh yeah, buy a bag o kitty litter, a large catch pan, and lint free rags to handle the valve body. It's gonna be messy.

a couple people who replace the tranny pans just punch a hole in the factory one and let the fluid drain out before removing the whole pan.

I recall using 5.5 qts. but I had liberty of using a lift. (THANKS AGAIN OLEFAFL)

With your truck being on an angle, you may have to add a bit more fluid.

Start with 4 qts, start it up, let it warm up, go from R to D and back a few times, put it in Neutral, leave it running, check the 'stick, add where necessary, repeat from R to D. Drive it a couple days, check it again, top off where necessary.

Have FUN and be sure to report how the line mod works. Just be careful!

I think they are 10mm.

BTW: Take the magnet out of the the factory pan and put it in the 4X4 pan. BEFORE you start installing the new pan.

On that valve body there are two 10mm nuts and a lot of 8mm bolts. Unless I put the accumulator valve on the wrong piece.

01svt, did you torque the pan nuts down or just tighten?

Evil,

I torked the valve body down to 90in/lbs and the pan to 15ft/lbs the recomended tork is 80-100 in/lbs on the valve body and 10-16 ft/lbs on the pan.

Cool

I just had mine done last Thursday. I actually watched this done twice in a row. Fast1Matt had his done first but didn't spring for the 4X4 pan. Ours were done on a lift by a Ford Tranny Tech so I would probably jack the front end up if I were doing it at home. I remember the 2 outside bolt being larger than the rest. The tech said to torque the valve body down in a random pattern like torqueing a head. He also said to not over tighten because it can warp the valve body. Matt's took 7 qts. of Mercon III with the stock pan. Mine took close to 8 qts. with the 4X4 pan. He checked it carefully several times while it was running. He made the comment that it was better for one to be under filled than over filled because of foaming or something to that effect. As many times as he checked and added to ours it must have been right on the money. He got me the the pan and filter at his cost. He only charged me $60 for everything. What a deal!!
