Pop goes the Spark plug

I have experienced a lot of things that a lot of you guys (and gals) have experienced on here and now I get to add one more to that list, the dreaded spark plug launch.

I was driving around today and got on it to beat a yellow light. After making the light, I eased back onto the throttle then heard a POP followed by a vacuum sound. I immediatly pulled off and looked under the hood and noticed the 3rd coil pack back on the passenger side was blown from it's mount. I never got a chance to feel inside to see if the plug was still in there though. I called my dealer and got roadside assistence to flat-bed the thing to my dealer. While they were on their way, I was able to pull all of my aftermarket stuff so it would be stock. Was just curious to those that had this problem, how long did the dealership have your truck and what did they do? I heard that they will either replace the head or the whole engine. I'm hoping that they can swap in a set of my TR6 plugs before they re-install my engine. We'll see what happens. Looks like I get to life behind the wheel of an escort for awhile.

You poped on off your own plugs not factory???? Thought this was caused by improperly troqued plugs?? Interesting.

Exclamation

Hope you had them put the NGK's in there. Otherwise they'll say aftermarket installation caused the problem unless you have a really mod friendly Service Manager.

I went through the spark plug change drill a couple of weeks ago. The spark plugs that I pulled out were installed by the dealer after my IC repair.

A couple were very loose, and NONE of them had anti-seize on them. I don't see how the dealer can blame everything on us.

I guess a lot of the warranty issues depend on your relationship with the Service Writers. I've found a good one here, and always go back to the same one.
