Chevelle 454 SS supercharged
Chevelle 454 SS supercharged
I played with one of these things last Sat night. Walked right on by him, we went from a roll (35-60, put about 1/2 a carlength), and I wasnt suprized, I thought it was a 350. Well I was wrong. After the race I came across a couple of guys that were in the the car, but then in a different car.
Him-"Dude, what do you thing of that blue chevelle?"
--"Somethings not right"
"That car is running AvGas!"
"Something really aint right."
"THATS A 454!"
"He better tune it"
"ITS SUPERCHARGED!"
(Tundra gets the crazy look on his face, he knows his truck is quick but it IS very beatable) "Well let me put it this way, there is a guy in a gold chevelle that can beat me, and he's only running a 396, ALL MOTOR, THATS HIM RIGHT THERE! We are going to the track tomorrow, and I am going for high 12s"
Thats when I figured it out, the look on their faces explained everything. I am surprized they didnt drag their jaws down the road. Another friend of mine over heard them talking trash, so looks like we are gonna be racing this weekend.
Later on that night, some other friends of mine toyed with that car. He tried pulling the old four people in the car excuse about getting beat by the truck. They were later informed that my truck was indeed a TRUCK, and that it tips the scales at 5000 pounds! The hitch was on, and a 250 lb passenger. Looks like I got a good race lined up next weekend...
BTW, new best time, no 12s though, 13.14@103 (2.08, on race gas) and a 13.16@104.63 (2.212, no race gas)
JDM chip, 90mm mass air, JL bigmouth, no muffler, no hitch, no spare, stock tires.

Tundra,
Nice times, you're getting closer. Went to that Texaco you told me about on Muldoon and picked up some 110. The guy that sold it to me was just on his way to Palmer with his El Camino. He had it running and it sounded mean. Asked him what he had in it, and he said a 502 crate motor and that it has run in the mid elevens. He was going to do some tuning on it at the track getting it ready for next weeks King of the Street races. So, I guess you'll be seeing him. Like to be there, but have to take my daughter up to Fairbanks and get her set for college.
Good Luck,
Mark

Tundra,
That thing must have been running on 4 cylinders. My son ran his Chevelle at Carlsbad with some of us Lightnings owners couple of weekends ago.
His worst run was 13.40 @107. There was only one Lightning that ran that well.
He finished off with 12.33 @ 110, once we got the fuel delivery solved. And it is a 350!
It has a small Weiand blower on it.
A blown 454 should have annhilated a Lightning Truck.
