Iridium plugs, has anybody tried them.
BFB,the tourqes i had were star series 8s and they were crap, end of story.I got the same line there feeding you on these plugs.I did not have an intercooler leak,it turned out to be a bad sensor but this was the case with the splits also and they performed better than stock. If you insist on being the guinea for there new supposedly improved plug i suggest you try the 6.The original star series i was told would work in an L,and the fact is they made the truck run like crap, whether at the strip or an interstate. There are people on this board that were at the strip when i changed over and they saw my truck run two tengths slower with these plugs compared to the stockers or splits. The people at tourqemaster were nice to talk to but talk is real cheap and these plugs are anything but.And by the way this supposed refund that they offered, must have only been offered to the guy who got his for free. Good luck

I still want to be a guinea pig, I guess now. Curious, are you running NOS? The 8 is a real cold plug.

BFB, no nos but they knew that when they recommended the 8s and this is why i am suggesting you try the 6s or maybe even 5s if you are stock or chipped. They never sent me any recall notice. I got the feeling they were using me to test the plugs in my L but acting as if they knew which plug would work.If they straight up told me try these and see if they work because we know nothing of lightnings,i would have suggested 6s.This was the fourth different plug i had in the L at the time and changing them was getting old real fast. I think maury was treating the blower as an aftermarket power adder and playing it safe with the 8s.I was hoping then that someone else would try the 6s but no takers, and with the added throttle response i got from the splits,i figured why mess with what works. If you get a hotter version and they perform i will give them a try. good luck
i thought this post was asking if anyone tried the denso plugs and next thing you know you guys are talking about a totally different plug????
JL those plugs should have been mine (but i decided ton take a nap at the tree
) suprised you haven't tried them earlier than know maybe that's what holding you back
from the 11's

I also bought the torquemasters late last fall. After reading troubles of several guys that had installed them I left them on the shelf. Never received any info on a recall. Buyer beware might be in order here.

Denso Iridiums
When I was at Columbus, Ohio last May for the NMRA event, the announcer went on and on about how several of the heavy-hitter Stangs were running them and how they're almost indestructible in a power adder motor. I thought someone said the flame kernel is better too because of the fine wire electrode. They look very promising to me. I think that's why the Splitfires run so well is because the ground strap is divided into a tiny fork. But these (Iridium's) are so strong and have such a high melting point, I think these would be the best thing to date. Hey, If guys running massive turbo's on VERY expensive equipment use them, they gotta be decent. Maybe they would add some HP too. But, at $13 a plug, I've been a little hesitant to dive in. I guess the main reason is my lower back can't take a plug screw-up which would necessitate a double swap on plugs.
Hey Johnny, was the Columbus event when you got them?

TorqueMaster Plugs
I bought the Torquemaster plugs and DID install them. They did not work at all. When I called the fine folks at TM, they told me they have never had a defective plug in the history of their company. They refused to take them back and/or refund my money.
Now I'm always the first one in line for a mod that will increase the performance, but It'll be a cold day in Hell before TM ever sees anothe dime from me.
On a lighter note, I think I'll try the Iridiums.....I read about them and they seem to be the real deal.

ps......never received any notice about any recall

Also, I just do not understand why Pat and Maury weren't taking them back. They never had a problem w/ taking back plugs from Cobra owners who couldn't get the original Torqies to work 3 years ago.
I will talk with them again today concerning "customer service" and the fact that they didn't work, and what will they do if mine do not work. Maybe after doing this some of you all can call in and at least get a swap out for the so called "newest" version of the Stars (maybe even a refund?).
Also, when a company does not give you a refund on a product that doesn't work please do us a favor and stop them in their tracks by calling your credit card company and stopping payment.

What TimBurntire said, I don't think you'll need 500miles to decide. I had those in and out in about 20 miles. There was about 6 guys that tried these and subsequently posted the same results.
Talk is cheap, but I guess Maury knows what kind of customer service Lightning Owners are used to.

One of the reason's that there iridium plugs are so expensive is because iridium is not a resource found on earth. It is a metal that was found in the remains from a meteor that hit Mexico. So basically, these plugs are made from stuff out of this world. I am also very interested to see how these do in a modified L running extra boost.
The plugs basically fire in any condition, and thats where the power comes form. No mis-fires in higher boost situations. An after market ignition will basicaly do the same thing, but costs a lot more money.
