Post Over spinning of the blower. Could this hurt top end MPH?

Lately I have seen that some of us have put upper and lower pulleys on their trucks. I was just thinking when doses it become undesirable? What I'm trying to said is, is this a good thing to do to the blowers? Are they being over taxed? Generating too much HEAT? Spinning beyond the blower's design? Spinning so fast that the heat that is being producing is really hurting performance? The design of the blower has such a small opening into the inter cooler area that I'm thinking that spinning them so fast is really not doing anything but uping the heat. Yea I know the boost is going up, but is it way too much heat, Is you mph going down on you 1/4 mile times? Are you seeing big gains to risk blower damage? Also the air is taking 90 degree turns before it even gets to the intake port. Crazy, but I guess its alright with the area that Ford had to work with, REF the area between the intakes. I'm waiting for someone to come out with a centrifugal supercharger with an air to air intercooler/ different intake. YOU GUYS IN KANSAS LISTENING!!! Just look at the HP that centrifugal superchargers are getting from the 4.6 Mod motors.

Just my 2cent

Isn't the power-band of a centrifugal blower more like a turbo? (aka, low in the low RPM's, high in the high RPM's). Wouldn't a centrifugal raise max power to much higher in the band?

I would imagine that a screw type replacement for our helical roots blower would be the best. Like a Whipple, or what is that new Eaton, the M196 or something?

1BADTK had a 2Lbs upper pulley on his truck but then took it off, because on the 1/4mile with the 4.10 gears and 26" tall ET Streets, the truck would fall flat on it's face around the 1000' mark. Just alittle insight from things that have already been tried.

when i installed the lower pulley i imeditaly gained et's and mph i went into the 12.30's and as high as 111.2 mph in 90*+ temps which were never possible before.. i really believe i have reached the max as far as spinning the blower because ive been testing a larger pulley and thus far havn't seen to much of a change in power. so i think ive found the limit of the eaton.. Jl, so do you think were safe with the smaller and upper pulley,I have a power cooler,do you think I'm operating in the safe range,my set up is alot like yours....One other thing I know what tires your running, are you still able to hook up ok,and at what lbs of pressure...
Thanks

My truck has the 4.10 gears and converter and did exactly the same thing. I made some changes and will test next week at the track. Too much rain this week. I could actually feel it on the street, the truck would go like hell in 1st and 2nd and then lay down, Not bad mind you, but you could feel it.

I don't have an ice box and I don't super cool my truck, so maybe thats the difference.

J Man: Ive been doing fine thus far with the 2 pullies. but its up to each individual whether they feel its safe.. Me on the other hand I just need a little more power! LOL! I definatley have run into a traction problem however i find 18# is the best pressure for me..i'm currently finishing up on some new traction bars which stopped all wheel hop and axel wrap up..i'll have pitcures and price later. Daniel,

Your right in your comparison between centrifugal & roots type blowers, will for that mater even screw type. But you just wait, when somone comes out with a centrifugal type with an air to air intercooler (ATI ARE YOU LISTENING!) this truck is really going to move! The 1/4 miles times will be quicker, and the MPH will be higher. I just think we have reach the best we can do with this type of intake/blower/water to air intercooler setup.

Johnny Lightning:

get over your b/d yet? j/k' Do you mean '18 lbs.' cold--or hot'? I assume you mean 'cold' but just want to be sure.

Thanks, Dan
