2000. Sometimes I'm out there, but not too often. I was out that way last Tuesday night, and this past Sunday afternoon...

Mine pretty much looks the same way. I have a 99 with 14,500 miles on it. I took it to my dealer and told them it was leaking. So i dropped it off for the day and they called me back and said they pressure tested it and it was my radiator that had a leak in it and they would replace that?? So anyway they did that last month and I thought maybe they were telling the truth. Anyways, now it looks like that again. This is my first Ford and i'm quickly losing faith.

Master of Pain -

Fantastic. Our next Burger-N-Fries meeting is at Cliff's Cafe - 12389 Kingsride on September 11th - 7:00 PM. It's down by Memorial Hospital off of the eastbound I-10 feeder road between the beltway and Gessner. Did you know we've got 44 or 45 members in Houston Area Lightning Owners, and we drag race in Sealy once a month against other car clubs (Mustangs, F-bodies, vettes)? Check out our HALO discussion forums for more info.

Look forward to meeting you.

LightninSVT -

Don't lose faith. These trucks are worth the inconvenience of any mechanical problems, in my opinion. I'm very lucky to have a fleet truck service manager in my local Lightning club to take care of some of our mechanical stuff. Go in and demand the proper fix - bring documentation you find here. Good luck...

Houndog -

D@mn man, you got nearly the end of the run on the 2000's bud! #4944!

Houndog,

Is that a RETRAX? If so do you have any more pics?

Wink

Madhouse,
Get it in to the dealer, mine started leaking at only 4,200 miles and I just picked it up from the dealer about an hour ago and I now have the new 01 intercooler and manifold. Just be happy that yours lasted that long.

LightninSVT: If you told your dealer that your IC was leaking...and they told you that after they pressure tested it they determined that a leaky "radiator" was to blame...you better start going to another dealer! I've already had one IC replaced on my '00 Lightning six months ago(9,000 miles), and its looking right now like I'll be going in again in a week or so to have this one replaced (35,000 miles), I consider myself somewhat of an expert (okay, that might be a little exaggeration). Anyways, the Intercooler is a completely different system from the radiator. I'm not saying your radiator wasn't leaking too, but if they replaced that and sent you on your way...then you best go check your IC fluid right now cause your IC is still leaking. Good luck...

It is appalling that according to the letter on the Board that they want to train the Techs how to recognize the mods yet can't train the techs to know the intercooler is separate system.

Do what MXRacer said...get to another dealer, then have them call the Dealer Hotline.

Yeah, i wish there was another dealer around my area that knows what they are doing. I don't really know alot about how the whole engine and intercooler system is set up, so its not like i can call them out when they tell me this *****. All i know is that it IS leaking, its not a good thing, and it needs to be fixed. I wish i could just tell them that its leaking, its a known problem and that they would just fix it with no questions asked.
Is there anything that i should ask them to do specifically? As of now i just go in and say "i think my intercoolers leaking" and drop it off for the day.
I brought pictures of the leaking intercoolers taken apart along with part #'s and service messages that they can look up that i've gotten off of this website and showed them to the service guys. All they can say is "what, did you find that in the internet?" sarcastically. I've about had it with Winner Ford in Newark.
