Valve Body Mod and Level 10 Shift Kit the Same??
Hey guys was wondering if anyone could help me out with this i recently got the valve body from Sal at PSP. Great piece and i love the shifts thanks Sal you the man
. But what i was wondring is that i know that the valve body from Sal has the level 10 parts in it and is just a direct bolt on so there is no need to mess around with your stock valve body. Now what i was wondering is this mod the same as a shift kit from level 10. Now like i said i know that the vavle body has the level 10 parts in it but what i was wondering is when i read guys on here post about shift kits are they talking about having the valve bodie mod or is there another kit from level 10 for our trucks. Any info would be greatly appericated.

There aren't any level 10 parts in the kit, they are similar and do basically the same thing, but the parts aren't from level 10. LEvel 10 sells you 3 springs and a line mod valve. The kit I build (PSP) has 3 very similar springs, a differnt line mod valve and teh 310 springs and 321 valves are changed to higher quality parts, all in a new accumulator. It saves you having to open the body up, which is actually pretty simple, but say you drop it while you're working on it and springs, valves, sleeves etc... fly everywhere, do you know where they go? I do, so I just put all the parts together and provide a kit that you just take off a few bolts and bolt in another one. It save some hassle and you get a lot more for your money in my opinion.

. Like you said alot better piece for your money when i brought it to my friend whos a mechanic put it on for me hes like are you sure there arent any ***** from it im like thats how it came. Because like you said when you open the valve body parts go everywhere sometimes and my friend said you gotta be careful with some of the vavle bodis because they come with those *****. All in all great piece and love the shifts thanks again.

A big problem is when you drop the main control (the bigger, 2 stage valve body behind the accumulator) if you don't know which bolts to leave in it there are four check ***** that will fall out, and if you remove the main control, there are 9 check *****, a spring, a TV ball and a filter under the seperator plate that will come out, it's a mess if you have to try to figure out where they all go. Like I said, my kit effectively "idiot proofs" this.

I just installed the Level ten kit with the PA tranny pan.....what a difference....really barks the tires on the one two shift.
I read the service manual and got the info on the check ***** but they didnt really apply because i just did the accumulator body and made sure not to bend that gasket on top. BTW those spring retainers are kind of a pain to get out even with the screw in em.
All in all, this was one of the easiest shift kits i have ever done installation wise.

The ones I make now are all the same, but I've changed them. The original ones were a little squirlly on the '01s so I changed the shift control valves (7D321) and the small spring (7D310) in the accumulator, it works on all 3 years, but the early ones don't do so well in '01s.
