Question flowmaster or no muffler

hey guys need a little advice
went to the exhaust shop today and asked what he could do to make the exhaust loud and intimidating he said he could do two

1. take off the stock muffler and just run two straight pipes $60

2. install two flowmasters $350

he said the straights would be better and cheaper for sound,hp,and backpressure

please let me know what you guys think i should go with

thanks

If loud and intimidating is what you want then i think i know what you want. If money isnt to tight go with the Bassani Cat Back System thats what i have and love still one of the best mods i think i have done so far. You can hear me coming like a block away and i still think this is the exhaust that ford should have put on from the factory. My truck sounds mean and thats the way it should have sounded =0). The nite i put it on when i was pulling in the garage the lamp shades in my living room were shaking hehe. And the best part is the exhuast tips are stainless and shine now not like stock and they are 4 inches now. So if money isnt an object i think you will like what you get in the bassani cat back. Oh and as for if i felt like i lost anything i actully felt like the truck was a little quicker.

Cool

This one is easy to answer most definitely go with the straight pipes along with a bassani x-pipe or magnaflow x-pipe in place of the muffler. I had flowmasters on my truck they sounded okay but they made my L slower than my stock system so i took them back off! The straight pipes are great for the track but for everyday driving it is very loud and will get your butt in trouble if your out romping around in it!

I just had two 2 chamber flows put in today, they seem to have more of a deeper tone than the 3 chamber flows i had on my old truck. I think they sound great. I do think you're getting shafted on the price of the install, $350???? I got quotes from two different shops, $220 and $200. You might want to shop around.
