First Time to 1/4 mi. track..... any advice?

I'm leaving Sunday morning for Clay City, near Lexington, KY. Any advice from anyone on launching my L or track prep in general? I appreciate any advice.

I found that my best 60's come from stalling it to about 1200 rpm, and when the light turns green I release the brakes and quickly depress the pedal. By that I mean NOT mashing your foot thru the firewall, but just depress it smoothly. Also, turn off the overdrive and leave the gear selector in Drive. You'll have to 'feel the track out' to see how much traction is available and adjust your right foot to keep from spinning/bogging. Don't get depressed if your truck isn't as fast as you expect as the warm weather will most likely take its toll on performance. Just practice cutting a good light (I usually let it go when I see the last yellow light) and have fun! I wish I was going with ya!

Take bags of ice(if you want to cool down your intake between passes--don't 'drip' on the track), helmet, air gauge(drop down to about 27psi rear), trousers(shorts not allowed), go around the 'water box'(don't get F1s wet), line up where the 'blackest' lines are, 'go' on the third vertical tree light, if the rear end starts to come around--don't touch the brakes--just come off the gas-easy-then back on the gas-easy, DON'T TURN AROUND on the track if you miss the first turn-off--keep going and look for the 2nd or 3rd one, take 'notes'(temp., b/p, weight, etc.) on your time slips.

Take plenty of drinkin' water and chewin' tobacco but don't spit on the track.....(see above about ice bags) Oh, and have fun!
