Question Help With Exhaust,Cold Air Intake

Hey Guys Im brand new to the board but i have been follwing in the background for some time now first off let me say that i think it is awesome that us as ford truck owners have a place like this where we can hang out and get away and just be ourselves, second to all members i think its great the way everyone works with everyone to solve a problem, answer a question, or make a suggestion im glad to now be part of this and hope i can do my part to keep this the best site on the net. Thank you Webmaster and current members for keeping F150online number 1.

well on to my question

im looking at working on the exhaust system now and i need input on what is considered the best flowmaster, bassani, magnaflow, etc, the sound im looking for is loud and deep i want people to know im coming and other trucks to runaway, it should sound deep when the truck is started but sound just as good when im at 2 or 5 thousand rpms, also with the tips should i keep the factory tips or replace with chrome, will the stock stainless steel tips out last the chrome because of the eventual rust that will form and does the tips play any part in how the exhaust will sound

second im torn between a cervinis ram air hood with the ram air induction system when it is available and a cold air intake system the ram air is going to cost about 1,000 total and add 30hp? while the cold air is 350 and will add 25hp? what do you guys think will benefit me more and if so what type of cold air induction system do you recommened to the best on the market for hp

sorry for going on and on i promise ill get better guys

i appreciate any help anyone can give me

Tony

Re: exhaust systems. I picked up my 2001 L in May and exhaustively researched these sites before purchasing any mods. If you search exhaust systems, you will come across one thread that describes the Bassani cat back system as making the Lightning soung "...pissed off!" What could possibly be better than that? I had my system installed last week ... and I haven't turned the radio on once since then. Get my drift? You WON'T be disappointed.

the "cat back" system means that it replaces the exhaust system from the converters on back. (mufflers, x pipe?, ect)
they dont come out the back of the truck.

it bolts up exactly the same as the stock system. the pipes come out the side, just like stock.

Thumbs up

When i put my Bassani Cat-Back System on the truck the sound was just awesome. People use to stare at the truck and be like wow now they hear me coming like a block away and are like what the hell is that hehe =0). The Bassani makes the lightning sound mean the way it should have from the factory. And another great thing is the exhuast tips they are now 4inches and stainless so they look much nicer then the stock and are way bigger. One funny thing was when the first nite i put the exhuast on when i was pulling in the garage the lamp shades in the living room above my garage were shaking hehe. Well i got mine from www.truckperformance.com so check out there i had mine the next day got next day shipping. Oh and as for losing anything with the exhuast i really didnt feel any loses actully felt a little faster.

I think the Bassanii system is abou $1500. That is why I went with just a Borla catback. The Borla didn't sound loud like I thought I needed so now I have straight pipes. Straight pipes are inexpensive and very loud. You'll get noticed.

Talking Bassani

Hey Guys,

I put the whole Bassani system on. Headers on back. The sound is awesome .You will get a slightly louder, meaner sound when you add the x-pipe, high flow cats, [two in place of four],cross over pipe, and headers. As apposed to the Cat back only. I paid $1495.00 plus shipping from Mark at LightningForce Performance. I think just the cat back from him is $630.00 or so.
