just wondering

Just wondering if any 1 has an extra cd cartridge for the 6-disc changer in a 99L they may want to get rid of.

Let's see here. I traded in my '00 and kept the cartridge. That's one. Got one with my '01. That's two. And the one that was in my '99 Yukon Denali was the same type. Kept that one too on trade. That's three.

Now you see, you don't always have to beg, borrow, or buy these things. Sometimes you just have to be patient and they will come your way. I've got three and theoretically, I've only paid for one.

Check out Ebay. They are on there all the time. Later.

Every once in awhile I see something like this on here, and it just makes my jaw drop. It may seem like an insignificant thing, but it is still dishonest. Someone, probably the poor used car buyers, will have to replace those.

How would you feel if you just spent $25,000 on a used L, and found out the CD player doesn't work because there is no cartridge?

Now, come on, even I think you're overthinking it.

Besides, if the dealer sells and "incomplete" vehicle to you w/out specifying in the buyer's contract that they will not replace that then they would be liable, and most dealers would replace it.

You know, I kept the spare set of keys from my '99. They didn't work, (the key was the wrong one), but the transmitter did.

I don't think so. I personally watched and listened as a Ford dealer in my area gave the shaft to a young couple buying a used F-150. The salesman told them it only had one key, and when they balked he said he could make them another for only $95.00.

I couldn't do anything about it because they went into an office and closed the door right after I overheard this. I wanted to tell that sales guy so badly that he was full of ****, but I never got the chance.

So, don't pat yourself on the back because you think that the dealer won't screw someone over with an incomplete vehicle. They do that kind of crap all the time. Now, granted, these were not exactly savy consumers, but that still does not make it right to screw them over. How many people know what a replacement key costs the dealer?

Why do so many people not know the difference between right and wrong anymore? There should be no question.

Mine was missing the cartridge and I never did get one. The dealer gave me three different ones to try and none worked. I ended up putting an aftermarket system in it anyway, but when I trade it the new owner won't have one either.

Where does the dishonest part come into play? If you buy a vehicle, it's yours. Period. If you want to pluck the antenna, keep one of the wheels, and the driver's seat, that's your perogative. Chances are it will diminish your trade value, but hey, that's your choice.

Now if I were to rent a '99 or earlier F150 and take or trade the cupholder/ashtray because I like it better than the '00 or '01 cupholder/ashtray (which is exactly how I feel, but have yet to do this) than that would would be dishonest.

If you're going to buy used, make sure everything you expect to be part of the purchase is in fact on the vehicle. Until then, I'll keep what I want, thanks!
