Man, I looked that site up and down and didn't see anything about lightnings. Do you have the right page?

Just a quick question as to how fast the SVT lightning runs the 1/4 mile in.

The reason I ask is on my way home from work I happened upon a guy in a new one who was wanting to race. I typically don't race on the street because, well I guess I'm getting old. LOL. But I thought what the heck.

I was in third when he pulled up next to me, we took off at about 75mph. To my suprise he pulled on me fairly well. I was stunned!! So I thought this can't be right, so I slowed to about 60 and dropped it into second. I pulled him about a half a car length and held him off to about 100. Maybe a half to a full car length total race.

I was not able to talk to the guy, not sure if he had any mods. But WOW that thing ran good. Do any of you think this is possible with a stock Lightning?? Or do you think he had mods. I do not have any mods yet (just air silencer removed). Because of this I plan on installing 4.10's sooner than I expected.

Just curious, I'll know better next time not to start off in third. LOL! Any feed back would be appreciated.

There are two Cobra boards on BON - one for 99 owners and one for 01 owners - I check out the 99 board... No one there talks bad about Ls... A few guys have even sold their Cobra for Ls. Don't know about the 01 guys - sometimes people post that they think the 01's are faster than the 99's. It's all good!

You know what I don't understand, How come BON doesn't have a section for us L's.

I've been a member at that site for a long time now and I never go there for that reason.

They used to have one but apparently did away with it due to lack of interest.

BTW, saw that same post on Corral.net about the Cobra vs L.

Well, the gearing doesnt allow for the Lightning to kick from 3 down to 2nd @ 60mph. That is why you stayed even. Otherwise he would have walked you again! At 75 it went from 4-3 & will pull pretty hard from there

corner -carver,

I am considering doing the same! I hate to give up the Cobra though... I spoke to the sales guy I know this morning and asked if I could take one for a test drive - he said to hurry up and come down - he has a used one on the lot he'd let me take out unescorted for an hour. They won't let anyone test drive the new ones. Humm...

Bringing a cobra against a blown Lightning, Is like bring a knife to a gun fight! Get blown! But you got to admit, for a 4700 pound pick up, it ain't to shabby. LOL
