thinking of buying lightning 01 vs. 04 spark plug blowout concern?
Thinking of going out and buying a ford lightning. I have about four that i am looking at but two that i am real serious about. one is a 2004 that is red (not my favorite color) 42k miles $16.8k good tires. and the other is an 01 white 50k miles he is asking 16 but i can talk him down to lets say $15k tires have 10k miles on them. I have heard of problems with the 01-03 spark plugs being blown out, is this really a big problem? I plan on keeping them both 100% stock, and they are stock right now. I really dont want any problems with the truck I end up buying and blowing a spark plug out is a big deal to me.

thanks for your help

what you mean is that regardless of the year, regardless of how many threads are in the spark plug holes if they aren't properly torqued then yes they risk "blowing out"
yeah i know i read all the threads, its just that i wanted to know if keeping the spark plugs torqued (which from what i heard is a huge pain) and keeping it stock was a 100% fix for the plugs popping out.
I have an '02 that I bought new. 46,000 mi. 2lb pulley; DiabloSport canned tune; CAI; trans valve body; Magnaflow exhaust. Never had the plugs out of it (well, one for inspection purposes). No problems whatsoever.
why not go for the 04 im sure you can talk him down to 16k even then it has less miles and is also 3 years newer than the 01 seems like the better deal to me i have an 02 havent had a plug blow out yet changed the spark plugs once thats the only time ive touched them since i bought it in 08
