Question Additional repair services required when replacing intercooler?

Hello to all:

I just got my leaking intercooler replaced with the new XL3Z-9425-AB Manifold Kit. However, the mechanics failed to replace or even check the spark plugs, oxygen sensors, EGR(?), or change the oil. Does anyone know if these additional items are required to be checked or replaced by the Dealer when replacing the intercooler?

The truck still has a skip, miss, stumble or hesitation under light throttle input. This condition developed shortly after I noticed that the intercooler was leaking.

Thanks.

Wilk

Yea, you got screwed. Your mechanic billed ford for the time but didn't do all the work. As part of a leaky intercooler repair they are suppose to:

1. Change the plugs
2. Change the 02 sensors
3. Change the oil
4. Inspect the cats (whatever this means)

Go back and tell them you're gonna report them to the district rep for failing to follow ford procedures and they will check to see if the dealership billed ford for the above and then didn't do it. Basicly tell them you plan to DIP THEM IN IT.

Post SVT Hotline Response

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Subsequent to posting this thread I called the SVT Hotline and questioned them if the Dealer was supposed to perform the additional diagnostics and/or repairs.

Their answer was no! The current directive from SVT is just to replace the intercooler. No other work is called for by the SVT procedure.

What a hassle this is turning into. Dropping off the truck, picking it up. Do it again, and again, and ...
