Anyone interested in a replacement supercharger that adds 80hp?
if hes looking the same place i see, its the kenne bell ad in the september issue of mm and ff, just says comming soon no other details.....hmmmmmm
who needs a ford fix, just go aftermarket....

Wow, not my post, but very interesting. Wish I could answer your questions, but I know not. Rather confused as to how I got

The Kenne Belle states 80hp and direct bolt on. I believe the power is through more efficient air flow rather than more boost. The Kenne Belle's move more CFM's at the same boost level. Our blowers are pretty inefficient from what I hear, cant' back it up though.
99svtlightning - I don't know if I would call them ineffecient. From what I've read and learned our blowers do a fine fine job for those who want to keep the L stock or a little better then stock. Then there are those of us who just want power and pushing the L to the limits (RTkilla is a prime example), and when it comes to pushing the limits that is were the eaton is not good enough. I've read that some people say it's to small when you go for higher power apps and others say it's not efficient enough. DOn't know how true any of this is, but it's what I've read around and it does make some good sense.
I guess it depends on how you define inefficient.
I agree, leave the Lightning stock and it does it's job well.
An excellent example is the Eaton M90. On a 4.6 2 valve it maxes out at around 385hp. I wonder what the max power on the L is with the M115. I bet Ford won't use the same M115 on the new 3valve motors, if they move forward with the new gen. L.

I guess everyone is assuming that the Kenne Bell will improve a Gen II's performance by 80hp.
As a bolt on, I personally think that would be a ridiculous claim. Think about it. Stock 5.4L motor puts out roughly 260hp. A stock Lightning 360+hp. Does anyone really expect me to believe that a Kenne Bell will add another 80hp to a Gen II which would bring the total to 440+hp just by bolting the thing on?
I haven't seen the add, but I could possibly believe a potential 80hp from a stock 5.4L 260 horse motor. Even that would be a stretch, IMHO.
I have seen Kenne Bells on R/Ts, Chevys, etc... and I haven't heard of anything even close to 440hp from a mere bolt on.
Regarding the M90 on a 4.6L motor. Flats Man has that combination on his 98 STX if I'm not mistaken and is currently in the 260rwhp range. That's up from a stock baseline of somewhere around 175rwhp, so that's pretty good actually. He is hoping to get 300rwhp after the addition of a pulley and a few other changes so I believe the 385hp is off just a tad.

Someone buy one, dyno it & report back to us. someone with money and an attitude, someone who doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks, someone who would be proud to be called a,,,, "WHIPPERSNAPPER" , or someone call Kenne, and call him a lying sack of sh*t, and tell him to prove it, or something

Just got off the phone with Kenne Bell's technical line and the skinny is as follows: they are still in the final prototyping stages of their replacement blower. They don't know if it's going to use the stock throttle body on one of their single blades. They don't know if it's going to use the stock L's intercooler of if they are going to do one of their own. They don't know what will ultimately make it in to the "replacement package" or if they are going to offer different levels of the "replacement package" with differing gains in horsepower. They are 30 days out from even getting to the testing phase so it appears that their 80+ hp gain may be a little "marketing fluff." Sounds good on paper but doesn't exactly pan out in the real world (the infamous vaporware in the software world where I reside). They also mentioned that it would come with a Kenne Bell chip and some other goodies. The fact that it's taken folks like Jim, Sal and Johnny several months to a number of years to develop and tweak their programs kind of frightens me (must have some bright fellows on staff to have the necessary programming done in 30-60 days). I also don't know if they've gotten to the hurdle of the differing intercoolers and bolt patterns between the 99-00 and the 01's but I imagine that may be a pleasant little surprise for them.
I wish them luck and if they can truly deliver on their claims than I'll be the first in line...but I'm skeptical at this point.
Hope that helps,
Dan

More Info !!!
Kenne-Bell markets the Autorotor supercharger wich is a twin screw design and they have one that is 2.4 leters of displacement.
To put that into perspective the M112 is only 1.83 leters of displacement.
The twin screw blower is much more efficient than the roots blower. A screw type blower will heat the air from 30 to 45 percent less than a roots blower and will take a good deal less power to turn it.
I dont know if Kenne-Bell would put that big 2.4L blower on the Lightning or not but if they did and it was tuned right, I could see an 80 HP gain.
Last but not least if Jim Bell calls it a BLOWZILLA He should be shot.
