2" rear drop

I have read most all the posts and done searches, I just want to get your opinions.

I want to lower the rear of my truck 2" to get it level and am trying to decide between doing the rear springs or a shackle drop.

I have been looking at the hotchkis rear springs, summit has them for like $288 or something. Or I have been thinking of the belltech shackles.

Would the springs be a better Idea. Would they offer a better ride then the shackles.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks
Paul

I put the Belltech shackles on my 01 and I personaly have not noticed any difference in the ride, but the rear of my L is still not completly level!

Personally I am not a shackle fan. Don't like the idea of changing the suspension geometry. Springs are the best approach, shackles are the least expensive. If you just want the "look" go with the shackles. If you want to improve the suspension buy the springs. No flames intended.

I second the approach using springs.

I'll 3rd for the springs also over shackles.

But you might want to get Spike or Ruslow's opinion on changing just the rears springs. By going to stiffer springs in the rear and lowering your are going to change handling characteristics, mostly overstear/understear. By stiffening the rear, you may have to do something to the front to keep it balanced.

Spike or Ruslow?
