Thinking about buying a Lightning

Yes, that's right, folks. If I can sell my '88 Mustang 5.0, I may find my way to the nearest Ford SVT dealer and plop down a few greenbacks for a new Lightning.

What do these trucks cost, anyway?

Besides this forum, can anybody direct me to some good web sites that a chocked full of tasty Lightning info? And sites for aftermarket companies selling Lightning performance goodies?

Thanks.

BTW, I use this same username on www.corral.net and www.gnttype.org

What's to think about.

A Lightning is about the same price as a new Cobra. $30K(+-)

Huuuummmmm, Flowery Branch? Not too far from Social Circle is it?

Go for it---it's a hoot!

Search for NLOC and SVTPERFORMANCE for more owners, info.

Thumbs up

If you can afford it, do it... Simple as that... You will not be dissapointed.

Limited production (well, kinda), Fun factor, Versatility, Cheap insurance (relatively speaking), Easy to mod... Just some of the few things that come to mind.

The trucks sticker at 32400-32600 the only option is the tonneau cover.

Not much to think about, just do it. It is a blast to drive and people just seem to be attracted to the truck.

This site is the best for info, do a search on whatever it is you are looking for and you are sure to find it here.

This board is the reason I got a lightning.

Just realize that your wallet may never be full again and that everyone will be checking out your new ride.

You can't pick your nose in a Lightning. So if you are a driving nose picker like myself, you're in trouble.

Well, I currently own a '87 Buick Grand National as well as the previously mentioned Mustang. My cars can be viewed here:

So my wallet is fairly empty now.

Also I can just get tinted windows and be able to pick my nose in peace and privacy.

lyonsd: I live in flowery branch also. I've seen a GN running around here a few times. Could've been you? If you get that L we'll have to check each others' rides out.

My GN has Georgia State Flag front tag. If you see me, flag me down.

Email me so we can meet. I'd love to see your Lightning.

Oh, and if you don't have a G-Tech and haven't been to the strip, bring it over. I've got one.

I dont even have to read your post to tell you my answer

YES break the bank on it if you have to. it's about as close to an orgasm as one can get w/o having sex... just in my opinion I love my truck and I am going to drive it until its wheels fall right off...

2001s are stickerd @ about 32k
2000(my personal favorite ) ticket for 30k... if you make friends with your dealer about 28k is what i got mine for

Yes, get it. It is a hoot!!
I have had several Mustangs, Ram Air WS6 Firebirds and in the old days a Blown 302 Maverick. The L is the most fun of all.
Don’t think about it just do it!!!

I went to the SVT dealer on the last day of the month. I sat in the office area of the used car section and listened to the shatter. They were in competition with the new car salesman for the max number of sales that day. I picked out a used car salesman. I asked him if he wanted to sell me the new Red Lightning up on the hill near the main building. He said “Oh yea”. I told him the only way this will happen is that he can only go to the Boss or any other place 3 times. Once to get my price accepted, Once to get the keys for a test drive and the last time to tell the finance manager I was on the way. I told him any games or extra trips and we were done. Period….
Edmonds had the Invoice at 29k. And the other closest SVT dealer would not deal. They wanted Sticker only and made more that 3 trips. I started less than invoice. After he made his first trip we settled on invoice. There were only 3 trips so I brought home a new L.
