Lightbulb exhaust vs. straightpipes

There has been a lot of talk over the last year or so about straight pipes gaining up to 2/10ths over running mufflers,so i put my bassani cat back on the L after a year long vacation and took the straights off. I don't remember anyone doing any actual testing at the track. If somone has then please post your results. I plan on letting the L cool down a little, make a pass, repeat cool down with straights installed, and make another pass.hopefully the weather will not have changed more than a degree or two in between. This has got to give more acurate results then the old assometer. I don't see any tuners running straight pipes so this tells me there probably not worth the 2k drone that comes with them. Any way this weather lately is no good for new personal best et,s so might as well do some testing.

Matt, i probably won't test it till the middle of next week because i need paved pits for the jack stands.I also got some of those php shocks that cost an arm and a leg to test after this test. I asked about the upcoming 18in nittos comparison to et streets and paul said there were p.o.s. and not to bother waiting for them.

Greg,
How much quieter if any is the bassani cat back then your straits and can you tell any difference on the street for traction with those PHP race shocks?

Cool

Matt, the bassani is much queiter than straight pipes at any r.p.m. As far as the shocks it has been 10 degrees hotter and more humid.or raining since i put them on so i can't tell if they help yet.I strongly suggest you wait on the shocks until after testing. LightStruck, the bassani catback alone or with headers is a bit louder than stock but at full throttle you hear boost not muffler. With straight pipes you can hardly hear the boost at all, just exhaust.and with cat pipes from bassani i am told it is in between these two extremes. I paid around 650.00 plus shipping for my cat back, but i am sure you can find it cheaper as that was over a year ago.

Unhappy

Matt, the weather,if it doesn't rain should be decent, but the choices for t&t tommorow are thunderbird or milan.Kind of like choosing between hell and ahhh hell lol. No stanton or norwalk.Maybe i will go race with hollander jeff at thunderbird, maybe not,but chances are i will be at t&t somewhere. Mid michigan should be hooking good after the big boys lay down some rubber if it is not 94 and humid nex't wenesday. I can't wait till nex't year when martin reopens, two of the best tracks in the country within 50 minutes, should be racing heaven. Let me know what you think about thunderbird or milan. greg
