mandrel bent pipe???

I just ordered a 14468 (the shorter) Magnaflow muffler for my 00L. Just wondering if anyone that has this muffler used mandrel bent pipe from the rear of the muffler to the stock tips and if so where did you buy it??? I see places selling them, but I have no idea what length or bend to get to reduce the work at the muffler shop when I get it installed.

Thanks,
Jim

Thumbs up

Hey Jim: Do you plan to cut and bend the new tail-pipes yourself, assuming you have the equipment?
I had the short 12468 installed at the muffler shop and they cut and mandrel bent new pipes to match the old ones and reinstalled my factory tips. I have no idea of sizes other than 2 1/2 pipe from muffler to tips.---Jim

I plan on having it done at a shop but NO ONE here has a mandrel bender so I was thinking of buying two pieces and taking them it and letting them just bend it slightly to get to the right dimensions

Jim,

When I had my magnaflow 12468 installed, the shop didn't have a mandrel bender (DOH) but the tech was not the run of the mill Goober so he used a dual-out conversion kit from a 97+ F-150.

He had to work the connectors a bit but it turned out OK considering. I'm satisfied.

Here's a photo, more in my gallery linked below. Hope this helps.

All of Bassani's pipes and kits are mandrel bent tubing. They may sell you just the pipes ,I'm sure. A mandrel bending machine runs in the tens of thousands and mostley the bigger manufacturers have them.Go to their website.www.bassani.com

Of all the ways to save a buck - this isn't one. Muffler work is relatively cheap and you'll get your money's worth...
